Happy Birthday Mom!

Happy Thursday and Happy Birthday to my Mom! She's the best Mom ever! I made her this little card, mostly with contraband, but you'll see why in a minute. I used the Basic Grey Urban Couture cardstock (never cut into, the receipt in the bag said March 2006, yikes!) to make the foldover card.

The size is 5 1/4" square. I had the adhesive die-cut "A Mother's Love Never Fails" from the Retroactive collection by Sticker Studio, and I thought it worked pretty well with the card. I made the inside square piece out of the thin chipboard that comes in the SU patterned paper packages, then adhered the Basic Grey paper to it and rounded the edges. The "Birthday Wishes" is from the SU Sincere Salutations set and the yummy Chocolate Chip satin ribbon is retired SU from last year's Holiday Mini catalog. I think that covers most of it!

I was trying to decide what to send her for her birthday this year, and I was feeling stumped. Sometimes I give her jewelery from Sally Jean or or last year a cool mom necklace from here, sometimes gift cards so she can go shopping herself, etc, but I was trying to think of something different this year.

You may remember that my Mom is a quilter from when I set up her quilting blog while visiting her last July on vacation. (Ummm, yeah, she hasn't exactly kept up with it...who was I kidding, she barely checks email!) So anyway, I started thinking what does a stamper like more than anything, stamps,...so what does a quilter like more than anything, fabric! Then I remembered that Basic Grey released a new Urban Couture fabric line at the last CHA, so how perfect! A gift that combined both of our loves! And I knew I had the paper to match to make a card!

I also couldn't help getting her some of this Recess line, I *love* it! Not that I'm *expecting* her to make me something with it, but she might want to, you know. It's part of a whole Dick and Jane series that is just fabulous.

So that was a little long-winded, thanks for bearing with me! lol! Thanks also for all of your sweet comments recently, I really appreciate it! I really enjoyed some of your reminiscing over Rex Smith and Andy Gibb, and I even sucked it up when I felt so old hearing from some of you young ones! It looks like my blog counter is getting mighty close to 100,000...which blows me away...so looks like I'll be getting some celebratory blog candy together for tomorrow! Happy stamping!

Recipe
Stamps: Sincere Salutations. Cardstock: Basic Grey Urban Couture. Ink: Staz-On Brown. Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds, 2-Way Glue Pen, Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon (retired), Crop-a-Dile, Retroactive Sticker from Sticker Studio.

Oohh - I LOVE BG - it is one of my favs next to SU - what a creative gift this is!! Wow! Matching fabric and card - that is so awesome. I know you must feel tickled pink to be able to give her something unique too and not the usual gift card - which is typically the easiest thing to do for people who have everything! LOL! Tell her Happy Birthday for us!

I see our moms birthdays are a day apart. Your post title gave me a start, since that was my title yesterday. I thought I had done something wrong in blogger...
