Call Me

Happy Wednesday! How is your week going? Mine is going too quickly!

Here's a quick card for the Embellish Telephone Color Trends Challenge. I loved these soft colors! After a few searches through my stash for a telephone stamp, I had about given up when I found this die cut card from October Afternoon. Schwooo! Maybe I need to come up with a way to organize my stamps with photos in a binder or something, so I can page through them all to see them? Hmmmm, sounds pretty ambitious.

Okay, gotta dash, dh is on his way home and I should clean up the kitchen a little bit. Don't want him to think the only thing I did all day was make this card, which is what I did. haha!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

CAS-ual Fridays #58: Pretty In Pink

CAS-ual Fridays time! You'll definitely want to join in this week: show us your CAS cards using PINK! Fun, right?! And who wouldn't want to win a $20 gift certificate from this week's sponsor, the Ribbon Carousel?!

I made this card for my friend Val's birthday. I die cut her initials using pink cardstock that had been embossed with the my favorite new Chevron embossing folder. I loved the negative part better than the letters, so ended up using them on the card.

You still have time to link up and play with us, can't wait to see  your creations! For a bonus, here are some of the Pinterest-inspired "pinkish" gifts I wrapped up for her, using kraft paper, fabric, patterned paper, etc:

Big Birthday Fun!

Happy Sunday! I made another card with You're Amazing, so hope you're not thinking, "Geesh! Is that the ONLY new Stampin' Up! set she bought from the new catalog?!" hehe!

I loved this CPS 271 sketch, and I saw this Honeycomb Tutorial from the very talented Lydia Fiedler over at Splitcoast and gave it a try. It was easier than I expected, happy surprise! I used the 1 1/4" circle punch and patterned paper. I punched about 18 circles and glued them together since the paper had a different pattern on the back and I only wanted the blue check to show. So, I had 9 circles when I was finished. One annoying thing when punching patterned paper...the edges show white, so I colored all the edges with a blue marker to try and hide the white.

I took a deep breath and cut into a yummy sheet of World Spectacular patterned paper, yay me! Do you ever have that trouble, cutting into the most beautiful sheets of paper?! Here's how it looked before I put the "birthday" accent over it:

The last new trick I tried (I know, when did I get so adventurous?!) was adjusting the size of the Apothecary Accents die. I saw a video on youtube, can't find it now, phooey, but the gal was showing how to move the paper around to make different sizes. Mine didn't turn out evenly, oops, but the balloon hides one side, score!

Let me know if you have questions about anything! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Oh Snap!

Happy Friday! Hope you're having a great day!

I loved the dramatic look of these colors for this week's challenge from The Play Date Cafe #137 so I started working on this card last night. I decided on the Amy Tan stickers right away (love! love!), but I got stuck on the blue part, so finished it up this morning. Thank goodness for that bag of scraps! *smile*

Happy Days!

Happy Sunday! Happy Father's Day! The "Happy Day" card can be customized inside with a greeting to celebrate whatever Happy Day it is you want to celebrate, right?!

I tried to step outside my comfort zone with purple tones for The Play Date Cafe Challenge #136, and for the second card, I also used the Unscripted Sketch #163. Unscripted Sketches also had a piggyback challenge to use vellum, so I plopped a little vellum embossed with the Chevron Embossing Folder in there.

This week's CAS-ual Friday challenge is to use clear acetate or vellum (my card will go up on Tuesday), so I happened to have some Hambly overlay scraps laying around (hint, hint!) and decided to use the scraps on these cards too. You might have heard Hambly was closing up shop, make me very sad, they always had cutting-edge products. I won a Moxie Fab prize of Hambly goodies once, now I'll really be hoarding it!

That's it for now, get out there and celebrate fathers, or any special men in your life who could be fathers!  Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Blue Ribbon: Happy Birthday

Happy Wednesday! How is your summer going so far?! I've powered through 3 books (don't ask what time I go to bed, oops!) the last several days, so summer is good! I did tear the kitchen apart last night with the most thorough cleaning it's had in some time, so I haven't been totally lounging! hehe!

Here's a little card I whipped up for Create with Connie and Mary's Challenge #205. When I saw this sketch I knew it would be perfect for my new Stampin' Up! set Blue Ribbon. I also used my new Take a Ticket wheel with the Ticket Duo punch. Love it! I chose the colors from the World Spectacular designer series paper, love that stuff! And I have to thank Kimberly Van Diepen for my little button addition, she always does the coolest, different things with buttons and thread!

It's looking pretty cloudy today, perfect for more stamping and reading! hehe! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

CAS-ual Fridays #56: Sweet Spot

It's CAS-ual Fridays time! I hope you are playing along with this week's challenge, CFC#56: create a clean and simple card using polka dots! How fun, right? Polka dots are one of my all-time favorite "go-to" items! You can use polka dots, circles, spots, etc.

The Girl Fridays were lucky enough to receive some awesome stamps from this week's sponsor, DeNami Design Rubber Stamps! Yay! I used the darling Mimi on Scooter and Hello Friend sentiment. For my layout, I copied this card featured in the Stampin' Success magazine (a publication for Stampin' Up! demonstrators), didn't want to take undue credit. *smile*

If you haven't already played and linked up at CAS-ual Fridays CFC#56 yet, there's still time! You know you love polka dots and would like to win a $25 shopping spree at DeNami Design, so come on! *smile*

Just for grins, at the bottom of this post I put 3 more "dot" cards I made...and rejected, scroll down to check them out! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Recipe
Finished Size: 6 1/2" x 3 1/4"
Stamps: Mimi on Scooter & Hello Friend by DeNami Design.
Cardstock: SU Marina Mist, Whisper White, Polka Dot Parade DSP.
Ink: Staz-On Black.
Accessories: Pure Color Pencils, Decorative Label Punch, Chevron Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Stampin' Dimensionals.

Reject #1, this is what I was going to go with, until I got the new blue polka dot paper above. I punched different size circles out of white cardstock, adhered them with temporary adhesive, poked holes around them with paper piercer, removed circles, then stitched through the holes with baker's twine

Reject #2, I actually liked this card, especially the way the inky lines on the Amy Tan paper under the sentiment looked like exhaust coming from the scooter, but thought maybe it wasn't "clean and simple" enough:

Reject #3, I still like this one, just didn't know if it had enough "oomph!":

You're Amazing

Happy Sunday! Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

I saw the Paper Players #99 color challenge and since I love Basic Gray and Lucky Limeade, it seemed like a no brainer! *smile* I got my box of goodies from the new Stampin' Up! catalog Friday, yippee! The card above uses many new items, like hmmm, how many new items can I get on one card?! hehe!

I especially love the new circusy stuff, grouped under the World Spectacular product suite. Ironically, circus stuff was also the very first stuff I ordered from last year's new catalog, but it was more whimsical and cutesy. I love the vintage feel of this year's circus stuff. My other favorite items: the Chevron embossing folder and the Ticket Duo punch

Ta Ta for now! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

CQC #140: HAPPY

Happy Wednesday!

Aren't these colors yummy for this week's Colour Q #140 challenge?! Although I was at Target today and saw this towel and it looks much better in the picture, hehe!

I did do my first "splattering" technique on this, what do you think?! The splattering piece started out larger, but it kept getting trimmed down as I messed up, I mean, as the design changed. *wink* It was a wee bit messy, do y'all put it in a box or something to catch the "over-splatter"?

Well, I better move it, move it. I have the place torn up, trying to make space for 16 boxes/tubs of teacher stuff in this tiny house, sigh. Much of it has been in the living/dining room since February when I switched from classroom teacher to RTI reading teacher and started bringing stuff home. But I've been purging stuff like crazy, emptying one entire hall closet, and taken one carload of stuff to Good Will already, so it can be done! My goal is to be finished by midnight, hopefully earlier since dh goes to bed before then! hehe!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

the GOOD life

Happy Tuesday! Or shall I say Trying Tuesday?! Ever have one of those days when most of your cards  end up in the trash can?! Argh!

This card for Playdate Cafe Color Challenge #133 and Loonie Stampers jar challenge was sort of completed when I posted on Facebook something like cardmaking today sucked and I was going to read a book. Then I looked back down at this card, tore off one sentiment and added some October Afternoon stickers, and voila, not in the trash can now! hahaha!

I'm not pushing my luck, though, off to the treadmill and book now! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

CAS-ual Fridays #55: Put A Bling On It!

Are you ready to get your bling on?! For this week's CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #55, we are using gemstones, glitter, or anything that makes your project sparkle!

I used some yummy, chunky glitter on my little mustache. Not sure if the mustache trend is over, but I still love them! :) I wasn't sure what to do with this challenge until I got those uber-cool pixie sticks (my name for them) at the Great American Scrapbooking Convention last Friday, then inspiration struck!

Okay, are you thinking of an idea?! You still have time to play!  Go over the CAS-ual Fridays blog, check out the inspiration from the other Girl Fridays, and link up your project! You might be the lucky winner of a Guest Design Team Spot for the July Guest Challenge AND a $25 gift certificate from Simon Says Stamp! Worth playing for? (Did I sound like Jeff Probst there? hehe!)

15 Minute Crop Challenge!

Happy Sunday! Hope you're having a great day! I'm still recovering from my 14 hour crop yesterday, but I have managed to unpack and put everything away now, that's a big relief! I was with three great girls...one totally new and this was her first experience paper crafting, one recently new to papercrafting, and one occasional/recreational papercrafter...but boy, did we have some laughs! That's the important thing, right?!

If you follow me on Facebook, you saw this pic I posted of our table. Wowza, creativity is messy:

Before we packed up, I thought it only fair to spring one of my 15 minute challenges on them! hehe! My other cropping friends will tell you how much they love these! (NOT!) We each started with these materials below, only difference being the little Simple Stories Awesome image we picked, then I set the timer and we had 15 minutes to make our card! Fun, right?!

I think they turned out pretty awesome!!

Dinora (1st day ever making cards!):

Haley (started papercrafting this school year):

Jenni (on again/off again, recreational papercrafter, hehe):

And me (somewhat bossy, but thankfully they still put up with me, papercrafting tutor):

Did I mention we had fun?! *smile*

I'll be back tomorrow at 11 pm CST with my card for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge, Put a Bling On It! You still have lots of time to play and win a $25 gift certificate from Simon Says Stamp AND a guest design team spot for the July Guest Challenge!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!
