Blog Candy Time!

I reached 100,000 hits yesterday, so it's time for celebratory blog candy! It took me a year to get my first 50,000 hits, and then it took just 3 months to get my second 50,000 hits...I'm just so overwhelmed and grateful to you! Thank you for your visits and for leaving the sweetest comments. I've gotten to know so many of you and make so many online friends, it really means a lot to me!

So here's the holiday-themed blog candy:
  • Santa's Helper retired stamp set (I bought this from a friend and have hoarded it for a LONG time!)
  • Seasonal Icons hostess stamp set
  • 16 sheets 6x6 of Holiday Mini Designer Series Paper
  • Little tin filled with lots of metal hardware-type goodies
  • "MERRY" Scrabble tiles
To enter, all you have to do is help me out a little. I'm going on one of those weekend getaway crops next weekend with my girlfriends and it's a first for me! Leave a comment and let me know your best advice on what to take/not forget or how to act/not to act (like singing loudly with ipod on, maybe?). Even if you've never been on one yourself, maybe you've heard stories or have some good advice anyway!

I'll draw a winner at 10:00 pm CST on Sunday, October 12. Thanks again and good luck!

Note: Comments turned off since drawing is over! Thanks for playing!

hmmm. Having never been on a weekend crop, I don't have any first-hand advice, but I'll just give a list of things I think you shouldn't forget...
-adhesives!
-scissors/paper cutter
-pictures to crop
-lots of paper
-bottle of wine perhaps? :D

Have fun on your crop, congrats on the blog hits & thanks for the chance to win!!

If you are staying at a hotel, don't walk by someone's room and ask if they are swappers!! This happened to one of the girls in our group one time at a Regional. She stopped at an open door, looked in and saw a lady and asked if she was a swapper... then her husband came around from behind the door. Boy do we tease her about that! :o)

Congrats on the hits Angie!!! Hmm...haven't been to a weekend swap but I have tried to scrap with a group of women...sheesh, I never get anything done :) LOL Have a FABulous weekend!

Congrats on all the hits! Your blog rocks so no surprises there. :)

Now as far as the weekend crop.. I never had the pleasure yet BUT I did dp a 6pm-6am crop... P.J. crop night! All I could say is make sure you bring your comfty slippers so you can wiggle your toes.. have fun and if you can squeeze in some scrapping! :) The best part about crops is that you get to laugh and enjoy a craft w/other people who love it as much so enjoy it to the fullest :)

Congrats on your hits Angie!! As for advice, I've never gotten to go on a get-away like that, and would LOVE to. All I can think is to not forget your caffeine so that you can stay up forever without any problems! I'm not a night person ;)

Stacey said...

Congrats!! Thank you for all the inspiration! I found your blog a few months ago and check back daily! Do NOT forget adhesive! I went on a weekend crop and forgot all my adhesive. I'm sure someone would have backup, but would they have sticky strip, dimensionals, glue dots, removeable stuff, and more? I had to make a trip to a store and purchase everything again! :)

Sara said...

Congratulations Angie!

What I usually take is Adhesive, scrapbook kits: Everything coordinates so there's less "other stuff" that I have to bring. Have fun!!

Tara said...

WOW...congrats to you!
I haven't ever been on one either...but I would say don't drool on your pillow at night...those things are better left at home where nobody needs to know about it!! :)
oh and pack EVERYTHING!
HAVE FUN!

WoooHooo! Congrats on reaching the 100,000 hits! I am not surprised that the last 50,000 only took 3 months...because you ROCK!!
I am going on my first weekend crop in 2 weeks! I feel like if I have enough adhesive and my ink pads I can survive. I am making sure to have enough CS too though. But mostly adhesive...that is such a personal choice...borrowing someones adhesive is like borrowing underwear...it's just NOT RIGHT. LOL!

Ashley Cannon Newell said...

OOOH Angie, Congratulations! I've never been on such an excursion, but I'd say don't set your goals so high. I never get as much accomplished at crops as I'd like! Too busy eating and talking! So have fun!

Thanks for the chance to win...congrats on all your blog hits and success!! I have no good advice for you for the weekend crop except caffiene, adhesive, and lots of options...I never have enough stuff with me and always get angry at myself for packing to light!!

Tina said...

Angie, My advice be different in every question but for you, I say, pack light and take your great sense of humor, charm and laughter. Everyone is sure to enjoy!!!!

shannon said...

Never been to a weekend crop either so, so I would say don't forget to bring your scissors, glue and tape!Have fun!

How fun your going to a crop!! I've never been to one!! I would say just enjoy creating and hanging out with friends - don't worry bout' how much you finish :)

Krista said...

Congrats with the hits ! It's amazing, isn't it ? I love visiting your blog ! Have a great weekend !

Crystal said...

I say sit down before you go and pick paper that matches your photos- seems obvious but it is a task I don't always do and kick myself later. I would say pack light- but I NEVER can because it never fails I always forget something I NEED so I like to prepare for emergencies :)
Make sure you have LOTS and LOTS of FUN!!

Created by Kath said...

It looks like adhesive is everyone advice, just don't plan on getting a lot done, that way if you don't you won't be disappointed and if you do you will be jazzed. Just plan on lots of talking and laughing.

Mary said...

I've left behind my "outlines" for what cards I've wanted to make. Luckily enough I remembered most of it. Definitely don't forget that! And of course, your mono. No one wants to share their mono all weekend!! Have a blast. I'm jealous!!

Congrats, what wonderful candy. Don't forget the DP! Can never have enough of that.

Basement Stamper said...

Angie: You crack me up as I can just see you singing out loud with your IPOD on...and I don't think anyone would think you are crazy!

Don't forget to bring comfy clothes (pj's), something cushy to sit on, prepare as best you can so you don't have to load a u-haul. Definitely your adhesive, markers, cutter and paper are the most important.

Have a great time, I've been to several weekend retreats and have a blast at them!

ThreadCatcher said...

Angie, Congrats on all the hits! I know I check every new post. I've never been on a weekend event, sounds fun! Along with all the scrapping supplies and comfy clothes you need to remember your camerea for pics of the expierence for a future scrapbook page! jmniffer

That's some awesome blog candy! Congrats on the hits. I'd say not to forget your camera. Have a great time!

I'm so happy for you and your hit count, Angie! You are such an inspiration to a lot of us here in stamp land.

Don't forget to bring enough adhesive. (I forgot my extra roll of ATG tape this past weekend...I wasn't pretty). Also, make sure you have enough pretty DP and embellishments....

But, most importantly....don't forget your photos!

Have fun!

Suzy

P.S. And don't worry about singing out loud to your iPod. It will give the other ladies something to talk about later...

P.S.S. Also, since you're going away for the weekend....bring clean undies!

Karen said...

I have not been to a scrapping retreat but I have been to a stamping one. My best advise would be to determine a few projects ahead of time and bring all that you need for those projects plus a basic tool kit. If you try to cart everything, you will never want to go again as it is way to much trouble. Also, there is a good possibility you might not finish any project as you will be so busy delighting in what others are doing! Have a great time and congratulations on the 100K.

Unknown said...

Hi Angie,
What has worked for me is to put photos, paper card stock and accessories for each page into the page protectors and just have how ever many I think I can get done ready to go. It is lots of prep but worth the effort.
Thanks for the candy!

hee hee, I went on my first weekend crop with my sister last year. We had a BLAST... the only problem was I didn't get much scrappin' done because I was gabbing too much.... I think that one thing I'll do different this year is "pre-plan" my pages and ideas. I spent a lot of time sitting and staring into space. When your mojo leaves you at a crop it's no fun... I hope you have a blast! we're heading back in May and I can't wait!! *smiles*

Hi Angie! Congrats on 100,000 hits, that's awesome. Fabulous candy, woohoo! I would suggest you bring a pack of wipes to clean your hands from time to time. I also suggest you put together 'kits' so to speak which might help you get more done if you do a little work before your trip. Have a great weekend :o)

Congrats on your blogstone; not surprising though!!

I've never been on a w/e crop so I haven't a clue but don't forget to pack your sense of fun and humor, and wear a smile!

congrats!!
oh i'm so jealous, I want to go!!!! i've only been to one but my only advice is don't take one of everything. take what you know you will need. I had a few pages that needed something else but I waited until I got home and just added it. take the necessities, ONLY!!!!
and have fun (i'd sing with my ipod, they'll love it!!!!)

Anonymous said...

Woohoo! Congrats on your hits! Since I very recently found your blog, I didn't contribute to too many of those hits, but look out because your next big milestone will come up faster now that I'm aware! I've never been to a crop, but let me tell you that both my roommate and I forgot toothpaste at this past SU! convention! How weird is that? She said, "uh, Jackie I forgot my toothpaste", to which I replied, "No problem, we can use mine". Then I couldn't find mine either, so we had to get some from the hotel. Oh well! Have a fantastic time!!

Regina Cornelius regcorn@zoominternet.net said...

unfortunately i have never been on any type of retreat :( but i would be so afraid that i woudl forget adhesive and paper trimmer. if i were to go on one, i woudl also try to have scrapbook pages and supplies all bagged together for each layout to keep me on track. when i get around everyone else and their supplies, i would lose my head! lol!!!

Val said...

Congrats on reaching such a big milestone! Don't forget to take your laptop, if you have one! I always wish I had mine with me. Another thing I wish I had taken with me is my box of scrap cardstock. You never know when you will want just a small piece!!

Denise ~ Paper Ponderings said...

Oh that sounds fabulous! I want to go on one of those! Don't forget the basics...trimmer, scissors, glue, and ink!

Congratulations on the BIG number! I love visiting your blog. I've never been to a crop, but I've been told to beware of beverages. I guess you should take a bottle that is spill proof. Seat cushions also come to mind. :) I've heard that not all seats come with comfortable padding. Wow, I love the stamp set. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Congrats on 100,000 hits!!!! I really enjoy visiting your blog. I bring page kits in 2 gallon bags so that I am not spending time trying to figure out what works with what or wishing that I would have brought something else. Next bring a few comfort items like a seat cushion, a snack and a spill proof cup. Also bring extra adhesive. Have a GREAT time!!!!

Love your blog, I subscribe in my google reader and it's one I look at everytime!
THANKS! THANKS! THANKS!

I am going on a weekend crop next month. I am hoping to be organized so that I get a lot done. I am going to try and sort pictures into baggies. Then, place the embellishments/stamp sets/ideas into that baggie also. That way, I can just pull out a baggie and work. Who knows if I will actually have time to do this. I am always in awe of your work! How as a teacher-like I am- do you find the time. I try to stamp on Friday nights, but am usually so tired I can't stand it!

Martha said...

Don't forget your paper trimmer/cutter. Take several projects so that you can switch when/if you get bored with one. Pack everything in "kits" so that everything you need for one project is together. Be friendly and admire everyone's work and let them admire your work. Have fun!

Jennifer said...

Whatever you do, do not forget your pictures if you are scrapbooking! No lie, I had a customer come to an all day crop here at my house, and she forgot her pictures. How to act? Just have fun!

I'd do a checklist of the basics (trimmer, adhesive, etc) and try not to bring too much stuff (things can be shared)

Many congrats on your hits!! Awesome! Me and my sister had a girls crafting weekend about 2 months ago at my house. We had a blast just laughing, eating, laughing, eating, laughing......
We did get some cards made though! For me, I always make sure I have my adhesive, card stock, and paper trimmer. And just be yourself! Have a great time!

Unknown said...

Take lots and lots of adhesive refills....I never seem to take enough.

Great goodies! Pick me, pick me! LOL!

Juanita said...

On my first crop, I took way too much stuff, and had not planned out my projects very well. Think through what you want to work on. Staying over the weekend with the girls, I guess it depends on how well you know them, good pajamas and a camera are esentials. We have a lot of great photos of the girls in jammies creating 'art'. Plus one of our 'fearless leader' doing Bum Charades. (I did not know such a game existed!)

Nancy L. said...

Congrats!! Love all the cards you make! Never been to one, so not sure...but have a blast and just be yourself!! Thanks for the chance at your blog candy!

Becky said...

Congrats on 100,000!!! WOW! Such a milestone!

For your weekend, you can bring your stuff to crop/stamp with, but I usually just make sure I take my camera with plenty of space on my memory stick and a photo journal. That way you can preserve the memories with not just your camera, but also your thoughts and feelings. Oh and a bottle of wine is nice to get things rolling.

Pegg S said...

Congratulations on 100K! How exciting!! I've never been on a crop - but I would say don't forget your favorite snacks! From the other commenters, it sounds like so much fun!!

scrapping4twins said...

Oops - my first comment didn't take! Congrats on hitting 100,000! That's awesome!

When I go to a crop I always pre-plan my scrapbook pages and use the cropper hopper page pockets. I put the photos, cardstock, pattern papper, embellishments and anything else I might use on the page so it all coordinates and I'm ready to go. I also try and sketch out ideas so it makes it go quicker when I get to the packet I'm working on. I also do the same thing for card making.

Have a great time at your crop and the best part is all the socializing and ideas you get from everyone else!

Having just traveled 5 hours or so to go to a crop, and discovering I packed way to much...I think I can help you.LOL
Pack...trimmer, scissors, adhessive, photos, cardstock, (best bet, make up 'kits' for yourself, put all the things you think you might need to finish a project), snacks, water, gum, bandaids, kleenex, camera, business cards...
I packed a bunch of embellishments that weighed tonnes, and never looked at them, because I can always put them on later.

chloe said...

WOW ANGIE! That is some crazy good candy! Congrats girl!!
I would have to say dont forget little pick me ups for yourself...lip balm, hand cream for tired dry papercrafting hands, and even face masks for the gals: trying to laugh with a big fat mud mask cracking on your face makes the whole thing even funnier!! Have fun!!

Kathy Mc said...

Lucky you ~ a weekend just for you. Be yourself and enjoy the laughter as it is the best medicine for everyone. Don't forget the adhesive, photos, paper & trimmers (you can always embellish later). Oh, and don't forget the snacks as I never leave home without them. Love your blog and your beautiful cards. We have similar tastes in design. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your blog! Have a terrific weekend and so what if you don't get any scrapping done. : )

Oh my headache.... I have the hardest time traveling with all my crap.... I always over pack... What if is always a huge problem... Leave home the things you never use... but think you might just.... Pack lots of adhesive all types.. Ink and stamps of course... You could even take multi pack of paper that way you have all the color and it's already organized no sorting thought wondering what you brought. Bring your heat emboss gun to help dry Ink and pen and of course for embossing I do non traditional embossing on scrapbook pager... Oh ya!! maybe a few photos would be nice... Have a great time and share what you could have lived with out when you are back....

Hugs

Maybe you could each take a different major tool or two. One or two could take Scor-Pals, 2 a crop-a-dile, one a die cutter. That way no one has to bring everything! Hope you have a really great time!

Congrats on the hits! Few tips:
- I went on a weekend Mega Meet with 3 buds and one gal wished she'd brought her swim suit as our hotel had an indoor pool
- Our meet had a large auditorium where shops and stamp companies sold their wares ... the others carried their tool bags as we also had classes during the day, but last year I used their "check" service and checked my tool kit and later my bags 'til we headed to the hotel later - saved alot of wear and tear on my arms and back!
- bring your usual stamping supplies - I generally keep my "gotta have 'em" things in a small carry tote

My advice is to bring enough pictures to scrapbook! I went scrapping last weekend and ran out of pics! I also just love my ATG gun!! Congrats on all the hits!

Congratulations to sunch a BIG milestone!
My experience for these kind of crop was I always packed TOO MUCH! I enjoyed the time with the girlfriends so much, I chathed/walked around to see/enjoy others' work more than work on my own stuff...so if you can, pack just enough, and have a great time!

Karen said...

Hi,

I would try to do some advance planning and pare down my supplies to just the ones I would use this weekend.

Pack some clothing layers so you can dress up (or down) and stick to a few colors. As for singing loudly with your ipod on - yes! It's a weekend with your girlfriends and that's all about HAVING FUN!

sgc said...

Don't forget lots and lots of adhesive. I always use more than I think I will.

mel m. m. mccarthy said...

Congrats on your hits! I've never been but I would take a notebook to jot down ideas, sketches, techniques... a camera (but that's a no-brainer. Extra batteries for the camera) A little address book for crop-buddies emails maybe? Unless you have an electronic version... Hope you have an absolute riot & no need to tell you how to act I'm sure you are a delight even when (maybe especially when) you're singin' with your ipod on! :O)

I actually have not left the house since way before my littlest guy was born, he is almost two... and I got to go away to two scrap weekends (my first) this summer! It was a blast. Make sure you bring enough adhesive so you done run out (I took 6 packages the 2nd trip because I had to borrow on the first trip! And a good journaling pen. It is better to just get it done there... And bring snacks... and gum, to help you not snack too much!

Have a great time!!!

Hi Angie...I have been on a few weekend Scrapbooking retreats and the best advice I can give is to not take your whole scrap room but spend an hour or so preparing before you go and pack kits...in the kit put your photo/s, the papers you want to choose from, some possible embellies, ribbons etc and work from there. You will socialise so much that at least that way you can start something and add the finishing touches when you return home to your complete stash again. Have a fabulous time!

Anonymous said...

Hi Angie, congrats on the hits. Having never been on a weekend crop I would suggest taking your camera. You will want to make sure you take lots of pictures for the next crop. Have fun.

Hmm, that's a tough one. I would say that my #1 Advice is to attend all pre-retreat planning meetings, even if you already have plans! #2 Advice is REST UP before you go! You wouldn't believe how late some of the girls stay up, and they do love company!

Marilyn said...

I think you've gotten so much great advice that I can't add anything new - except RELAX and just have fun!! Congrats on the 100,000 hits - the hits tell the story of what a "wonder woman" you are!!

Amy said...

Congrats on all the hits! Thanks for sharing so much great inspiration and all the fabulous goodies! What fun!

When I got to crops, I take a large stack of pre-stamped images to color. Sometimes I take some of my patterned paper scraps, too, so I can pair each image with a potential paper and use the color palette from that as a jumping off point. For the most part, I don't bother to finish any cards, because I just don't focus well on stuff like that when I am with groups of people and then I also don't have to sit there thinking, "Well, if only I had brought that other brown ribbon..." :-)

Daniela Dobson said...

Congrats on the hits!
I have never been to a crop and I hear that you don't get much done, especially if you are with friends. If there is something that you really need to do I would get it all ready before you go (cutting, photos....put all in one bag) then it will be easier to finish at the crop.
Just have fun!

Pack up co-ordinated kits if you have the time, it will help you get more layouts & cards done, be sure to make a card from your scraps for each L/O you do.

Hi Angie! Congrats on your hits, wow! I have been lucky enough to attend many of these weekends, and my best advice is to coordinate with your friends so you don't duplicate your supply stash. One takes her awesome collection of inks, another her paints, embossing stuff, die cutters, punches, etc. Then we share! Of course, everyone still brings the basics, but it cuts down on all the stuff you have to lug in!

Also, I have discovered taking a mini shelf (like one for a desk) works great for doubling the space I need to "stage my working area! Have fun and don't expect to get much done! Like everyone else said - take mini-kits with you that are already coordinated! It saves time and you won't feel like you have to bring everything! I usually work on projects like mini books, etc. Have Fun!

Carolyn Sharkas said...

Hi, and congrats on all your hits. I see the number continuing to go up. You have a fabulous blog. I have been to a few crops but not a weekend one. I would love to go to one. I find that just making sure you have enough adhesive is the most important. And your favorite drink to wet your whistle while you chat and make new friends. Have a great time and thanks for sharing.

Anonymous said...

Congrats on your hits, love your blog! Hmmm, my cropping advice would be to pack a bag with drinks/snacks/meds/phone, etc. Once you get in that crafting "groove," you won't want to stop and think about all that other stuff!

Have fun!

Tara Kieninger said...

Angie - Congrats on your hit count. What a milestone! I would coordinate with your table buddies ahead of time so that you all don't bring items that can easily be shared (ink pads, punches, etc.). You'll have enough to haul (and will probably have somewhat limited table space) and your back will thank you for not having to lug a few extra items. It also helps to have a plan with what you want to work on so you don't have to haul ALL of your stamp sets (I'm not very good at planning ahead myself).

Anonymous said...

Well I would normally say to try and pack light, at the same time don't forget anything, lol! Definitely take your necessities like your adhesive, trimmer, scissors etc and it often helps if you kind of have a plan for each of your lo's but that's hard for me! I admit...I pack A TON OF CRAP, lol and I can't help it...so there..pack it all! ;)

As far as acting...just be yourself!! :)

Jean said...

When we go, we always check with one another so we don't all bring the same tools. So check with others who are going and split up the tools to bring. Not everyone needs every tool, like punches and die cutters and such.

And just have fun!

Woohoo.....candy time. I think just to go and have a fab time. I'm sure if you forget something, someone will have plenty enough to share....that's what we scrappers and cardmakers do for each other. Looking forward tohearing all about it.

Wow, 100,000 hits is fabulous! And how lucky are you, going to a w/e scrap. Love your blog, thanks for all the inspiration you give. Have a great time and don't forget your camera!

I've never been on one but would like to. I hear that adhesive is the biggest mosrt forgot thing of all. either you forget it or you dont bring enough. Oh and if you like to do them using photos dont forget the photos. Something to put the pages in might help too.

Carrie Barron said...

I've never been to one, but I would assume you'd want your favorite adhesive, paper cutter/scissors, and whatever works with the theme of the pages you'll be working on (if you have a theme.) If you don't have a theme, take your favorite colors. Have fun and don't stress!

Now let's see if I'm lucky enough to win!

Blessings,
Carrie

Congrats! Your blog is awesome. My advice - coordinate with people you know/will sit around for what to bring. There's a lot you can share. If you have time, crop your pictures ahead of time too so you have more time to be creative. Have fun!! (wish I was going :))

Congrats! :) Lovely blog candy.
I've never been to crop, so my only advice is: enjoy it all.

Have fun!

Hi Angie!
I love your style and your blog - I read it every day!
I go to about 6-8 different crops per year and my advice is this: walk around and check out what everyone else is doing and talk to them about their projects! Sounds so simple, but you'd be amazed how many people are too shy to do this. I leave every crop with lots of new friends, tons of inspiration, and great advice. Of course, by the end of the weekend, we've talked about so much more than cropping - we get to know each other's personal stories. It always makes me realize how thankful I am to have discovered this craft - and how it's such a great way to bond with other women.
Have fun!

My best advice is to take a lot of things, but sometime in the next week before you leave, scrapbook something. Get everything out, and then maybe you'll realize what you forgot. The other thing I do is I look at my pictures and kind of decide on a color scheme for each layout before I go so that I make sure I have enough of the basics like white and black paper, etc. One more thing, take a few things to trade. Have some extra product that you aren't going to use? Take some things and let people know you have it if they want to trade anything. Fun way to get new stuff for free! Good luck, I'm a little jealous.

Fun fun fun!!! You'll have a fabulous time. Don't do an ab workout before because you'll be laughing so much all weekend...that's workout enough. Definitely bring lots of chocolate (cause you have to share once you start eating it). Don't overwhelm yourself by trying to accomplish too much...take things that coordinate (like make up your own kits ahead of time and take time to plan out what projects you want to work on). Bring your basic tools, your favourite embellishments and ribbon, and cardstock/paper of course. Remember...you can always add things to your project once you get home, and likely, if you forgot something, one of the other girls will have it and share.

Have a great time!

Angie-
i've never been on one, but my advice" and is one of my biggest challenges here at home" is to have all of your photos organized by category and ready to put on pages. I always struggle with what photos (i take way too many) i want to use. I think if i had an idea ahead of time, it would help me out tremendously.
Have a blast! :)

My number one rule for sleepovers-must have chocolate! Don't plan on sleeping, this is alot less expensive than traditional therapy, expext to have a great time.

I would bring lots of adhesive and embellishments with solid and patterned papers. I tend to put my layout together and then when I get home I throw in all of the pictures. Hope this helps!!

Congratulations on all the hits! I'm usually just a blog stalker here but I really love looking at all the cards you make and all the treasures you find. My suggestion would be to not forget the chocolate! I can't scrapbook without chocolate! Have fun!

Snacks to share...chocolate of course! Your pillow and some Oil of Olay face wash sheets. They are the best for a quick scub so you can get up and start scrapping right away!

Have a great time!

Congrats on your milestone hits, Angie! Your blog is awesome, your humor is priceless, and your artwork is always inspiring!

I've never had the luxury of attending a weekend scrapbooking get-away, but my best advise would be to ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bring lots of adhesive, a camera and a notebook to copy ideas, thoughts or write a quote that you may need someday! Have fun! Don't overpack - then it gets too overwhelming to decide what to work on.

I've never been to a crop before but along with the basic supplies, I'd bring some wine!!
Have fun!

Hi! Congrats on all the hits - good job! I've never been on a weekend crop so I have no great advice to give. . . but if it were me, I'd bring comfy clothes to be sitting in all day. It would be a bummer to try to scrap when you aren't comfy! Have fun!

Anonymous said...

Congrats on 100K hits - that's awesome!! I've never been on a weekend crop, but I'm guessing you should wear comfortable clothes, since you'll be spending a lot of time sitting. Are snacks provided? If not, you'll want to bring something to eat that's not too messy and won't get your hands dirty. Have fun!!

Hello !!! Well I had my first crop 2 weeks ago, so I think that the first advice I can give you is take the things you use most : glue, cissors, glue dots, some stamps and inks, etc... After you take your tools like crop a dile, punchers, etc...
And if you want to personalize your project, take some overlays and embellishments you like most. Hope that helps ! These stamps are crazy, love the gremlins (my scrapname is gremlin ! lol)

kathleenh said...

Wow Angie! Look at all of these comments! Congrats on your milestone! Your blog is one of my favorites to visit!

As for my advice, I suggest pulling papers, photos, etc together in "kits" so you have an idea of what to work on. The same could go for cards. If you just willy nilly pack things you may get there and just be so overwhelmed you don't know where to start. I've been on at least 6 of these weekends and this has worked great for me.

Anonymous said...

There are too many comments to read through to see if this has already been posted, so here goes... Take enough adhesive to make it through the entire weekend. Also, don't forget your camera. That way you can not only take pics of all the fun you are having but you can take pics of projects that you want to case later.

Hi Angie...

How fun going on a weekend retreat. I go twice a year and LOVE them...next one is in a few weeks. I just make sure I pre-plan a few BIG projects (like I'll be doing my Christmas cards at this one) and then bring lots of Idea books for inspiration if I get stuck (usually looking at one will get my juices and ideas going again). I seem to take everything with me since I can't be without ribbon, paper, brads, etc. I just bring it all along so I have it! lol! Oh...if you have an OTT light, those are handy, especially when your eyes get tired at night.

I'd LOVE to win your Blog Candy! I've been looking for Santa's Helpers! Thanks and congrats on the 100,000 hits!

Oh, oh, I still have time :)
Lots of awesome goodies!
Congrats on the hit! Hmmm.... I need to look at mine :)

Savitri said...

Oh, weekend getaways... dunno, never been but I'd just bring the usual, like what you'd bring to crops. For me, it's 75% of my scrapbooking stuff, which isn't much really. I have a lot more stamping/card gadgets than scrapbooking.

Anonymous said...

My advice, just have fun. Bring twice as much adhesive as you think you will need and tons of chocolate. Love your blog. Your ideas are wonderful!

Anonymous said...

Congrats, I would say be sure to take your camera and chocolate!

Congratulations on your hits! WOW...that is fabulous. I have been to a couple weekend crops and I loved them. My suggestion would be to do some page planning. I had someone tell me about the pizza box idea and have the pages and supplies, pictures, etc all laid in the box in order so that you could speed through some pages quickly. I didn't have much luck though, we all talked way too much, took pictures, and walked around to check out everyone else's work! Good luck, hope you have a great time!

I wish I could say that I have some WONDERFUL advice on packing for a crop.....but I can only tell you what I have learned.

1. Take extra of the basics: adhesive, frequently used cardstock colors, most often used embellies.

2. Get out your pics and try to select 2 or 3 papers to go with each one. Take all of them. Your mood may swing one way or the other on the actual day you work on the layouts.

3. Don't be afraid to leave parts of your layouts or projects undone until you return home. I often wish that I had a particular embellie that I forgot to bring along. My solution.....just set that project aside and complete it when I get home.

Spend time this week preparing! Pick some sketches, the pictures, paper and embelishments and pack them together in a page protector. I suggest you bring a simply scrappin kit!!!
Have fun and thanks for the chance to win your blog candy! That Santa's Helper set is too cute!
