Fusion #2: Love

Happy Sunday! How is your weekend? I had a long day at school yesterday after Saturday school ended, and some more work to do yet, but I am determined to get a little stamping in today! :)

I made this card last week for a co-worker who need a 2nd anniversary card for her niece. She requested glitter, so I used the Stampin' Up! "love" Thinlit die with some of their glittery paper. I played along with the Fusion #2 challenge, so glad to see it up and going strong!

I stamped the snowflakes in Versamark ink, then heat set them with Heat & Stick Powder and an embossing tool, then sprinkled on some yummy red flocking, and heat set once more. The snowflakes turned out darling with the raised, fluffy dimension.

So Many Thanks...another 3D box

Happy Friday!


Continuing with the boxes...here's another! I used the Big Shot with the Matchbox Bigz XL die. I made 4 boxes in different colors, then mixed the "drawers" around and adhered them together. For the sentiment, I ran Whisper White cardstock through the Big Shot with the same die to make the "label" part, then I inked up the So Many Thanks stamp with different colors of markers and stamped. Easy peasy! Let me know if you have any questions!

Here's a nice little spring box! Seems like a perfect time to share it since it's fall now! :)


I used the Just Believe stamp set and Big Shot with Fancy Box die. Lots of other SU goodies, let me know if you have any questions! To make the flower, I just took some designer series paper and kind of folded it and rolled it up as I went along.


I went to a great vocabulary teacher workshop yesterday, so that was a nice little break! Can't wait to get to school today and try some new techniques out!

I used my new SU Santa Claus, fabric, and seam binding ribbon, sigh, great stuff! I rubbed some white craft ink over the polka dots, but it was still a little plain, then I ran across the Jenni Bowlin Santa tickets, perfect!

Embellish Felt Color Challenge & CAS FTL 110!

Happy Sunday evening! Got back from my weekend paper-crafting retreat earlier this afternoon, exhausted, but happy, and shocked at how little paper-crafting I got done! lol! It might have had something to do with the massage, or the naps, or the talking, or the movies, or the 5 hour shopping trip to Longview, but it's all good, right?!


This is the second card I made (right after my 2S4Y card for tomorrow, *wink*!) and I was so happy to play along with some more challenges! I used Ashley's Embellish Felt & Color Challenge as well as the Clean & Simple FTL #110 sketch. Fun, fun, fun!

Jolly Old Saint Nick!

Happy Saturday! I'm back early with a challenge card! I've been working on some projects but decided I needed a fun card, just for the heck of it! Plus, I received some new SU Holiday Mini catalog pre-order items this week, so how could I not play with them a little bit?! I promise not to go crazy and start showing you Christmas things every day in August, but believe me, it would be so easy with these new Holiday Mini items!


On to the card...I used the great colors from the Play Date Color Cafe Challenge #41 as well as Jen's SFYTT from today. What a fabby sketch! This one came together very quickly! But now, time for true confessions from a lunkhead stamper...the card started out as a one-layer card with those embossed dots on it. Then, when I decided in a genius moment to sew that folded paper down with the scrunched up lace...I sewed the card shut. Yes, I really did. So remember, when sewing things down the front of your card, open it up first. Ugh! I couldn't waste it, though, so I just trimmed it down and stuck it to a new card base. Remember, boys and girls, there's always a solution for mistakes in paper-crafting!

When I first got this to make Convention samples with, I panicked a little...how to make 5 cards, 2 three-D projects, and a scrapbook page with one lonely stamp. But I love anything with text-related, so I jumped right in and attacked these projects first, and they were probably the easiest for me.

Here's a quick share...my last SU convention card sample with Just Believe. I whipped out the big guns for this one...yes, my heat embossing gun! Y'all know I'm a lazy stamper! Since I was obviously too lazy to color in this image with my markers (I've seen some other beautiful samples where this was done, never even occurred to me!), I gave it some overall color by stamping in Versamark then heat embossing with white embossing powder. White embossing is my fave, the results are always so dramatic!

Happy Wednesday! It is Wednesday, right?!


I whipped up this little card while watching As The Word Turns (my summer secret!) using CPS Sketch 175 and SCS Color Challenge 279: Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wasabi! Me likey new colors! And can you believe all the challenges I'm doing?! Just call me Amy, Jr.! hee! hee!


Actually, this card was also made for a more important reason than just reminding me how poor my watercoloring skills are, ugh! It was made for a little 11-year old boy Mark who was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma and is undergoing chemo. His Aunt Cookie posted a card on Splitcoast that she made for him, and then Marilyn started organizing a card drive here if you'd like to send Mark a card too. Cards and prayers, they go a long way!


Well, guess it's my time to hop on the treadmill (Yeah, I know! It's almost becoming a summer routine, who am I?!) then shower before dh gets home! Just one of those little things I do for him! ha! Actually, last night I made tuna casserole, steamed vegetables, and homemade banana bread for him...he had to go outside and check if he was in the right house!

Funky Four: Curtain Call Act 38 & CCMC106

In my extended blog travels while on vacation, I saw that the uber-talented Mary and Connie have a challenge blog, so I thought I'd give it a try last night. (I couldn't quite get the little dots embellishments in there, although I did try, I promise!) I paired it up with Stacey's Curtain Call color challenge, which truly ended up being a challenge for me...that's a lot of colors and bright ones at that! It gets tricky for me when I can't use Kraft! lol! I guess it's called Crumb Cake now, can't get used to that...


Anywhoo, wasn't sure about this card and debated on posting it, but I got nothing else! lol! On a positive note, it was Gregory Peck night on TCM and I caught one of his films that I hadn't seen, The Valley of Decision. It was an early film for him with Greer Garson. Gregory Peck, they don't make them like that anymore, sigh. Maybe that's why I had trouble concentrating on the card?! hee! hee!

Play Date: Happy Birthday!

Happy Saturday! The sun is trying to peek out here, finally! We're going on two weeks of cloudy and rainy, not good for me! lol! Of course, it was good for me when the air-conditioning was broken, so I better not complain tooooo loudly!


I was not feeling any mojo yesterday...often happens after I clean my stamp room, ugh...so I visited some sketch sites and found this CPS fabby sketch! Don't you love it?! It could be clean and simple or all dolled up. I thought it would be perfect for the new Play Date designer series paper and a birthday card. I also used my new SU rhinestones, yay!


What are you up to this weekend? We may go see Despicable Me. We (mostly dh, ha!) are cheap, but we're hearing good things about it. I love Steve Carell. We did go see Date Movie earlier this week, at my request, for only 75¢ each, but dh wasn't happy we had to drive to Plano. ha! That's like Oklahoma to him!

The Play Date Cafe Challenge #36: take a moment

Happy Monday! I hope you're lucky enough to have a long weekend and are enjoying it!


I finally got the craft room *close* to being finished last night, and at least close enough where my desk was cleaned off and I could stamp again! Whoo! Hoo!


I ran across this challenge last week from The Play Date Color Cafe and thought the colors were so pretty. I used the new SU In Color Poppy Parade, such a bright, fun red! I started by coloring the bowl in with another new In Color Blushing Bride, but later I found a Pink Pirouette Top Note piece in my scrap box (my newly cleaned out and organized scrap box, sweet!), so I used it. Hopefully the bowl is small enough you can't tell too much.


Have you got big plans today? After walking on the treadmill and cleaning up, I plan on venturing out on a few errands...I've been such a homebody these last 3 days! I *plan* to finish up my room and then I can share some updated photos. Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act #36

I'm squeaking in (edited to add: I didn't squeak in, I was too late, dang! ha!) with a card for Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge Act #36. Don't you love these patriotic colors with the Kraft?! I'll try to take a better shot in the daylight tomorrow and replace. I started using the 2S4Y sketch, but gave up on it, so I had those extra Curvy Label punches that I didn't need...that's how I ended up stacking 3 of them on top of each other with foam dimensionals. I like the way that part turned out!


I *finally* started the craft room clean/purge/reorganize today...man, what a mess! I haven't dealt with retiring stamp sets in the last couple of years and wow, it's not good. Look for a big sale coming soon to a blog near you! *grin*

Happy Thursday! Just barely squeaked in with my card for the Embellish Color Challenge: Baby theme:
I used some older Stampin' Up! goodies on here...Puns From the Past...and some retired designer series paper and So Saffron grosgrain ribbon, boo hoo! Do you love that crochet flower?! My friend Valerie made it and gave it to me, it's the softest, yummiest yarn ever! And don't you love that double ribbon technique?! A girl named Ashley (maybe you've heard of her, she's pretty good! *wink*) had a video tutorial on how to do that here.

Happy Wednesday! First of all, let me say: What was I thinking when I booked a flight at 6:05 am?! YIKES!! Luckily I do a lot of sleeping on the plane...


In the meantime, here's my 2nd runner up card that I almost submitted to Gallery Idol on Monday. It was the first card I made, but then I got my new Stampin' Up! goodies, and after a few consultations with my buddy Beverly, we decided to go with the new Stampin' Up! card. I do love this little bird, though, that came along with the other frames too, from a K and Co Ephemera pack. It's a yummy little pack if you like ephemera!

Kazan's Sketch #54: Amour

Happy Tuesday! I just got my air-conditioning repaired, so it truly is a HAPPY Tuesday!


I did manage to make this little card early this morning in the heat (it was too hot to sleep!) for Kazan's Sketch #54 over at 2S4Y. I used some more new SU goodies, Artistic Etchings and Newsprint designer series paper. I *heart* this paper! Doesn't it look just like old book print?! The other patterns are great too! The two little strips are supposed to be the Argyle texture from the Big Shot texture plate, but you can't really see them in the picture, darn!



FYI, to get the ruffled edge that looks like crepe paper around the oval, I cut a couple of strips of 1" card stock, then broke the fibers down by pulling it against the bone folder. After that the strip of cardstock easily divides into two pieces, which I randomly folded, pleated style and taped to the back of oval, working around the oval as I went. Hope that makes sense, let me know if you have questions! I think it might have turned out a little bit neater if the air-conditioning had been working! lol!



I'm heading out to Missouri tomorrow to spend some time with my folks, yay! My dad recently had a heart attack and a couple of surgeries and he's doing well, but I'm hoping to help them out some. Guess I better start packing and attacking the cleaning I put off when the air-condo was broken! The real question...how much and what paper-crafting supplies to pack?! How much do they charge for extra bags and pound overage?! Yikes!
