Sew Unexpected: Dare to Get Dirty Challenge

Happy Tuesday! Slightly freaking out here, so much to do still before I leave for the Stampin' Up! Convention tomorrow! I should have lots of cool new stuff to share soon! But for now, here's a quick card I did for the Splitcoast Dare to Get Dirty Sew Unexpected Challenge...this one was hosted by the super sweet Bev Rousch and you had to sew. Easy peasy, right?! I broke out my Janome Mini and tried to sew around my star...not so easy, lol! But here it is anyway, crooked and all!

Now, for the super good news from my school luncheon yesterday. We were supposed to have a new building, but it wasn't going to be ready, so we were going to have to be in an old building I am not fond of and a large number of classes were going to be in portables. The new building was going to be ready at Christmas, and we would move in then (so much for Christmas break!).

Well, lucky for me since I'm teaching 2nd grade this year, the grades pre-K through 2nd, are going back to our old building (125 year old church) that I love! It has fresh paint and new carpet and I have a ginormous classroom all to myself! And we signed a year lease, so no moving during Christmas break, we'll just move into the new building next year. So I'm thrilled, that power of positive thinking really works, huh?!

Before I go, here's a little sneak peek of the Artisan Award dinner swaps I've been working on...nothing like a little pressure swapping with Shelli, Brent, and nine other Artisan Award winners, yikes! lol!

Hope you're having a great day! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Recipe
Stamps: Woodgrain, Tiny Talk (retired).
Cardstock: Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoises.
Ink: Chocolate Chip.

I am happy that your going to be in a building you love! That will make a big difference to you and the kids.
This is a sweet card. I was thinking of doing something similar for the CAS challenge this week....If I find the time, that is.

Wow, that's pretty amazing! I don't think I could sew a star even on fabric. Glad to hear everything is working out great with the building. You'll have to share pics of your classroom after you get it all spruced up! :)

Cute star card...dang, you did a great job sewing...there is a reason I use zig zag...I'm scared of the straight stitch...

Cute card! I love the wood grain star! I find it hard to sew circles, never tried a star, but yours looks pretty good! Have fun at convention! And so glad the classroom thing worked out, teaching will be a lot better when your somewhere you like! And thank goodness you don't have to move during Christmas break, you need that break as a teacher! :)
