Scrapbooking...what?!

Happy Thursday! It's a miracle...a scrapbooking page! lol! I actually made this last month for a Stampin' Up! contest. I hadn't entered a contest since I won the Artisan Award the year before, so I thought maybe it was time to challenge myself. I didn't win, however, as this page was posted to Stamper's Showcase on September 16th...and credited to Kathy Earhart! lol! I only noticed it on Sunday, but I emailed SU and it's corrected now with my name. So I didn't win, but that's okay, it was still fun to make and I watched The Transformers while making it...so in my head it's The Transformers page!

A few details...the precious little girl, Lauren, is the niece of my good friends Lori and Robyn. When I made convention samples a few years ago, Lauren's parents were nice enough to give me a bunch of photos of her to use for my scrapbooking samples. She's a doll, and they take the cutest photos!

The contest was for scrapbook pages using "stamped elements", so I used the Pick A Petal set. First I cut out circles in the textured 12x12 Basic Gray cardstock. I stamped the images and then glued them underneath. Then, I sewed around the circles with my regular sewing machine...no easy feat. The page would barely twist around on the machine (poor planning on my part), but I liked the way it turned out. My favorite part, though, is that white strip with the scallop border. I bought strips that looked *exactly* like that at a scrapbook store, then realized I could recreate it with my SU supplies! Let me know if you have any questions about the page.

I'm off to bed, thank goodness tomorrow is Friday! Wheeee! Did everyone watch Grey's Anatomy? I swore I wasn't when I heard that nurse say she was pregnant with Derek's baby in the previews. If a doctor and a nurse couldn't practice reliable birth control, that was it for me! But I ended up recording it and watching it after Survivor (which kicked total a**!), and I'm so glad I did. My faith is restored in fictional doctors and nurses! =)

Thanks for stopping by! I'm getting behind on my Google Reader, but I'll be catching up tomorrow night, after Friday Night Napdown, of course! Hugs!

I can't believe it didn't win - what a neat idea to stamp on basic grey - when I first looked at your page, I was trying to figure out what DSP you used LOL!! Love how you recreated the white border strip too - and the picture is just darling!!

First of all, double "awwwww" for this page (I mean the sound we make when we see an adorable new baby). That was my reaction when I saw this awesome page, then I looked more closely and saw the sweet little Lauren- too cute! Can't believe you didn't win, then they gave someone else credit to boot. You should've included a note about just how hard that sewing was!

Also, you are cracking me up about your faith in fictional doctors and nurses and I don't even watch that show. LOL!

What a cute layout..I love how you stitched around all the circles! As for Grey's yeah I am a HUGE fan, but I agree...that would have been rediculous if a oops pregnancy had taken place!
