Just Believe

Happy Wednesday! Yes, the posted time is correct, and I am up! No, really, it's true! I'm off to a teacher workshop I signed up for back in May. Teacher thoughts are slowly starting to creep back in my head. I ordered two books from Amazon earlier this week, this one and this one, in case you're interested. I'll let you know what I think after reading.


In the meantime, here's a little card I made with the new SU set Just Believe. The SU Convention starts today and this is one of the sets that all attendees will be receiving. It seems like it will be a popular set. Have you seen it? Do you like it?

Kazan's Sketch #57: Play Date HB

I whipped up this little card for Kazan's Sketch #57 over at 2S4Y, isn't it a fun sketch?! I thought immediately it would be perfect to use my new, yummy crocheted flowers! Awhile back I won blog candy from Amy (thanks, gf!), a $10 shopping spree at Pixiepetals over at Etsy, so I stocked up on some crocheted flowers! She is the sweetest gal and has the yummiest handmade and vintage goodies, go check them out!

Dare to Get Dirty: TV Dinner & Sketch challenges

Happy Monday! Thank you so much for all of the 2S4Y congratulations and for the birthday wishes yesterday! I really appreciate it! DH and I had a fabby day and really liked Inception!


I stayed up *way* late Saturday night, mostly fiddling around, and working on this card while I watched terrible, scary movies. (Ugh! I don't know why I do that!) Anywhooo, I used two more of the Splitcoast Dare to Get Dirty challenges (you have to be a Fan Club member to have access, but if you can swing it, they have great galleries every month and it's a great way to help support Splitcoast):


Challenge 1: Bev Rousch's TV Dinner-a card or project inspired by a tv show
Challenge 2: Kim Teasdale's sketch challenge


Can you tell what tv show is my inspiration?


If you watch it, hopefully you thought of The Amazing Race! DH and I started watching it the last few years (we are never early adopters, but always behind on the trends!) and love it. He's wanted us to start training several times over the years so we could try out for the show...yeah, right, like I could ever eat any of that stuff and he could conquer his fear of heights, no matter how great of shape we might be in!


My plan for today was to work on some Paper Crafts submissions, but that hasn't quite started yet, doh! Have you submitted?! There's still time, go here for the details!

Dare to Get Dirty: Embrace the White Space

Happy Sunday! Hope you are having a great weekend and staying cool! It seems to be hot everywhere!


Have you heard about the Dare to Get Dirty challenges over at Splitcoast? There are fabulous challenges all week from the Dirty Girls for the Fan Club members, how fun!


I made this for the "Embrace the White Space" challenge...limit your layers, leave white space showing, try a minimalist approach. I just had to add a little pop of patterned paper at the bottom though. The stamped image and the sentiment had been laying on my desk back since the Gallery Idol contest, my first...and then abandoned...endeavor for the Creativity Heals challenge to make a "thinking of you/get well/inspiration" type card. I did create the sentiment myself on my computer using Word, I was happy with the way that turned out, just never could get the rest to come together, until now! ha!


So, did you hear my BIG news (No, not that I just turned 44 today, yikes!) for the day?! Laura and Kazan asked me to be on 2S4Y design team!! Imagine my happy dance here...sort of like Elaine's...I told Laura I almost threw my hip out dancing around the room when I got the news! hee! hee! I've been playing along at 2S4Y every since their very first sketch challenge, it's such a great community with so much talent, I'm super excited!

Jenni Bowlin class highlights!

Happy Saturday! Or should I say Happy Lazy Saturday! Man, I must be wiped out from my day in Waco yesterday, because I have been one lazy girl! lol! We had a great time at our Jenni Bowlin class! She is a great teacher and so down to earth and talkative, just like one of the girls! And for the first time EVER, my friends (oops, edited: I forgot I was going to call them mates, doh!) and I all finished our project! Whoo! Hoo! We did run about 30 minutes late, but the folks at Crop, Paper, Scissors were super nice and didn't rush us at all! Here we are with Jenni and our finished brag books:


So who did I choose to "brag" about in my brag book?! Well, Nick, of course! He's just the best dog in the whole wide world!








Some extra bonuses, the shop was decorated so cutely and even had antiques! Be still my heart! You can see more pictures of the store here.



Vina immediately wanted to hit some antique stores after seeing this, so they referred us to downtown Waco. Luckily Eva went to school at Baylor, so she was an awesome co-pilot! She even directed us to the best coffee ever, Common Grounds! Yummm-oh! Then we found the antique store, and look at this $5 vintage beauty I found:

Laura's Sketch #56: 2 Styles

Remember yesterday when I challenged myself to make 4 cards in different styles using one sketch like Kim Hughes did in Card Style? Well, I gave it a go using fabby Laura's Sketch #56 over at 2S4Y, and...it was harder than I thought! lol! I only managed to finish 2 styles so far. What style do you think the one above is? Hopefully, you guessed Shabby & Vintage, because that's what I was going for! You don't know how many times I *thought* I was finished, but I had to keep going back to add more stuff, it was a real struggle! lol! Don't forget, you can enter your Shabby Vintage cards into Cath's Moxie Fab World challenge here!

So, I learned it's harder than I thought to break out of your ordinary style, which is normally Clean & Graphic for me. I was putting off Classy & Elegant until the end, I think that's the very hardest for me. What's your normal style? What's hardest for you? Let me know if you try the 4 styles challenge!

Card Style!

Happy Thursday!


Have you seen this new Card Style magazine?! Wowza! It's chock full of goodness! (Is that an expression, chock full? Where does that come from?!) I got a copy the other day and I could not put it down! There's a little quiz at the beginning to find out what style you are: 1. fun & cute 2. clean & graphic 3. shabby & vintage 4. classy & elegant. Then the magazine is separated into four sections with tons of fabulous samples of each card style. I was lucky enough to get my Santa card published in the clean & graphic style, but now I'm dying to try out some more styles!



I think my favorite part of the magazine is where Kim Hughes uses one sketch and similar colors to create one card in each style, you can see some details here. That's my next goal! I'm going to play with a sketch and see if I can try to create four different cards with it, one in each style. Do you want to try too?!



And I'm still working on my stamp room. Still, you say? YES, still! lol! I had a punch dilemma and that has been solved, yippee! The last dilemma: 7,483 cards! Okay, maybe I'm exagerrating, but it doesn't feel like it. I sent like 300 to Operation Write Home last year, and I have another box just about ready to go. But I still need an easily accessible place for newly created cards, Etsy cards, cards separated by occasion, etc. I think I found a solution at The Container Store yesterday, but it's going to require me "reconfiguring it" (and yes, it won't be returnable if it doesn't work, ha!) so I'm building up the strength to attempt that now. Of course, in the meantime, I've started stamping again, so the neat and clean spaces from last week are no longer neat and clean, sigh. Such is the life, right?!

Greetings, Earthling!

Happy Wednesday! It is Wednesday, right?!


I whipped up this little card while watching As The Word Turns (my summer secret!) using CPS Sketch 175 and SCS Color Challenge 279: Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wasabi! Me likey new colors! And can you believe all the challenges I'm doing?! Just call me Amy, Jr.! hee! hee!


Actually, this card was also made for a more important reason than just reminding me how poor my watercoloring skills are, ugh! It was made for a little 11-year old boy Mark who was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma and is undergoing chemo. His Aunt Cookie posted a card on Splitcoast that she made for him, and then Marilyn started organizing a card drive here if you'd like to send Mark a card too. Cards and prayers, they go a long way!


Well, guess it's my time to hop on the treadmill (Yeah, I know! It's almost becoming a summer routine, who am I?!) then shower before dh gets home! Just one of those little things I do for him! ha! Actually, last night I made tuna casserole, steamed vegetables, and homemade banana bread for him...he had to go outside and check if he was in the right house!

Funky Four: Curtain Call Act 38 & CCMC106

Happy Tuesday!


In my extended blog travels while on vacation, I saw that the uber-talented Mary and Connie have a challenge blog, so I thought I'd give it a try last night. (I couldn't quite get the little dots embellishments in there, although I did try, I promise!) I paired it up with Stacey's Curtain Call color challenge, which truly ended up being a challenge for me...that's a lot of colors and bright ones at that! It gets tricky for me when I can't use Kraft! lol! I guess it's called Crumb Cake now, can't get used to that...


Anywhoo, wasn't sure about this card and debated on posting it, but I got nothing else! lol! On a positive note, it was Gregory Peck night on TCM and I caught one of his films that I hadn't seen, The Valley of Decision. It was an early film for him with Greer Garson. Gregory Peck, they don't make them like that anymore, sigh. Maybe that's why I had trouble concentrating on the card?! hee! hee!
