VSN: Critters

I'm back! I almost forgot I needed to upload this card by 10 for my Splitcoast Virtual Stamp Night challenge: critters. You had to use a baby animal of some type for a babt shower and the color green, so I used the Fox & Friends giraffe and Certainly Celery. After I was all done I thought the background looked too plain, so I used my eyelet setter and hammer (haven't had those out for a LONG time!) to make some random holes. My friends are always having babies, so I know this card will get put to good use!

I guess I need to think about getting ready for school tomorrow. The way I acted all weekend, you'd think I was already on summer vacation! ha!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Recipe
Stamps: Fox & Friends
Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Cosmo Cricket yellow paper.
Ink: So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise.
Accessories: Orchid Opulence ribbon, eyelet setter & hammer, Papertrey scallop die & wool felt, Big Shot, Buttons Galore button.

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day to all my American friends! I hope you are enjoying your holiday!

I decided I needed to make a scrapbook page of my grandpa on this day. When we stopped to see him last December on our way back to Texas, he showed us this nice service letter he got and had framed as well as his WWII medals. He had them hanging on the wall, so I took his picture with them. I'm so glad I did, I had no way of knowing this would be the last time we would see him in this life. I have such a hard time scrapbooking, but I reminded myself today it's more about getting your photos and memories preserved than how good your page looks!

Thank you to all of our veterans and current servicemen and servicewomen who help to keep our country safe and free! We are forever indebted to you!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

VSN: Splish Splash

Happy Sunday! What are you up to today?! Trying to get a little stamping done around here, but so far it's very little and mostly napping! ha! So much for dh taking me out, I couldn't even make myself get ready!

So far I have only made two cards for the Splitcoast Virtual Stamp Night challenge, and this is one of them. It's an inspiration challenge from the photo above using blue, gray, and white. You only have 45 minutes for the challenge, and I'm usually very slow, so this is good for me. I just have to *stick* it down without over-analyzing it forever!

While I've also been stamping, I've also been watching the series America: The History of Us, it's so good! I think I've mentioned it before and I've seen several other bloggers and Facebookers mention it. I love history, and especially teaching it, the kids just hang on every word. Then they love acting it out, of course. Good times. Can't believe we have only four more days left together!

Hope you are enjoying your day! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Recipe
Stamps: Friends 24-7
Cardstock: Basic Gray, Going Gray, Whisper White, Bashful Blue Print Patterns.
Ink: Staz-On Black, Versamark.
Accessories: White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, White designer series button, Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon, Corner Rounder, Eyelet Border Punch.

Never forget...

Happy Holiday weekend! Are you up to anything special? I've been lazing about the house today, but told dh he is taking me out to do something fun tomorrow, so wish me luck! I did just head over to Splitcoast for the Virtual Stamp event and made one card, but it's getting too dark to photograph it, so that will have to come later. Debating whether I should PUSH myself and make a goal to make a card for every challenge, hmmmm, I do love (and hate!) to put pressure on myself...

In the meantime, remember when I showed this card for the Embellish challenge? This is the first card I made that had the butterfly on it, then I took it off and added it to the other card. I just now noticed the little flower got smushed in the photo, darn! Oh well! Lots of misc. goodies on here...Cosmo Material Girl, Scarlet Lime kit tag, Etsy ribbon, October Afternoon label sticker, Stamper's Anonymous sentiment,...

Did you happen to notice this post on Paper Crafts Connection Friday?! Oh my stars, talk about a shocker, I can't believe I made the top 20! What an honor to be among this group of paper-crafters, they are some of my absolute faves!

Okay, peeps, guess that's it for tonight...debating whether to take a short nap, read a book, or make another card...what a good dilemma! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Clean & Simple FTL #91: hi

Happy Wednesday! How goes it?! Seven days to go...

I was so lucky to receive a beautiful, hand-crocheted flower from my friend Valerie, I had to use it on this FTL91 sketch card. Don't you love that flower? I wish you could feel it, it's super soft, yummy yarn! I dug out some older Sassafrass and made hand-cut scallops...used my Stampin' Mist spray bottle to trace around...with the brown polka dot paper. A shimmery Prima leaf, and voila, what a great, easy sketch to work with!

So, the school got broken into again Monday night. Have I mentioned this?! It's the 3rd time in the last few weeks. They are taking laptops, power cords, anything they can get quickly. It really sucks! It delays the whole day, waiting on the police to arrive, clear the building, and do all of their CSI stuff, with the kids and teachers waiting outside. Ugh! I'm on the 3rd floor, but I'm afraid it's a matter of time before they come up the fire escape like they did last year.

Okay, better dash! Hope you have a great day! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Thrift Shop Thank U

Happy Tuesday! Hope your week is off to a great start! We're on the final school countdown...8 more days...

I finally broke into my October Afternoon Thrift Shop last night, how sweet it is! I love all the sayings on the sticker sheet, since I'm such a big *junker*, definitely need to use those on some scrapbook pages. It's hard to see in the picture, but I cut out the center of the Kraft card base (freehand, crooked-style), then glued in the red doily sheet behind it. I attached the "tag" part with ribbon through the top of the card, so it would "swing", if that makes sense. Do you love that scrunchy ribbon?! It seems to be all the rage now. I got mine from Etsy after seeing it on here on Melissa Phillip's yummy blog.

Toodles everyone! Hope you have a great day! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Embellish Butterflies Color Challenge

Happy Sunday! I hope you've been enjoying your weekend! I know I have! *wink*

Here's a card I whipped up for Ashley's Embellish Butterflies Color Challenge. I make it sound easy, BUT I spent forever working on a card before this one, then I noticed this paper and ribbon and had to use it, but I needed a butterfly...so I ripped the butterfly off the card I had just made and put it on this card instead! lol! I'll have to show the other card later this week, maybe I'll find some other butterfly to put in the leftover, empty space! Oh, and the really exciting thing about this card...that white tag is from a Making Memories tag pack, girl talk or something, from WAY back in my early years of paper-crafting, like 7 or 9 years ago, so GO me for using some of it! hee! hee!

Okay, lots to do, I need to move it, move it! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Laura's Sketch #52: thank you

Happy Saturday! Hope you are having a good weekend!

Here's a quick little card I made for Laura's fabulous sketch #52. I needed to make a thank you card for our awesome principal, so hopefully this will be okay for a guy. Polka dots always make me so happy!

Pedaling Past...life

Happy Tuesday! Hope your week is off to a great start!

I almost forgot I had one more Pedaling Past card that I made at my crop awhile back! I had some leftover bits and this is how it turned out. I do like how the bike fits perfectly inside the wide oval punch! I also used the new alphabet, Rough Type, love it! I made this for the inside of the card:

Okay, here's last week school funny: we are working on our Saxon phonics lesson where we code words with certain patterns, etc. We put a box around suffixes, but you have to make sure once the box is around it that it's really a suffix and there is a root or base word left. Example, the "s" in dogs is a suffix, but the "s" in bliss is not.

So, another suffix is "ist" like in our "artist", but our word was "hoist". I think you see where this is going...one student came to the smart board and put a box around the "ist" leaving the "ho" and I say, "But if you do that, is "ho" a word?" Oh my! I had to do some FAST talking before anyone had time to respond to that!

That was kind of a long story, if you made it all the way through, thanks! lol! I hope you have a great day! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

EBTKS #15: hi!

Happy Sunday! Hope you are enjoying your weekend! I've spent mine searching for my mojo, ha! I finally finished up this little card for the Everything But the Kitchen Sink #15 Challenge. It came pretty close to flying across the room a few times, especially after the sewing machine ate a piece of it toward the bottom on the right side...I decided it worked okay with the distressing! I only persevered because 1) it's for my grandma who is in the hospital and 2) the inspiration photo for the sketch is a stack of books that looks just like dh's and my nightstands. You have to go over to EBTKS and check it out!

Okay, off to work on the school stuff now, gotta be ready for the Survivor finale tonight! Last Sunday didn't go as planned and I didn't finish up until 12:30, so we are NOT doing that again! ha!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Pedaling Past...enjoy the ride!

Happy Friday, peeps! It was a close one this morning, I turned the alarm off and kept sleeping for 20 minutes! Yikes! Luckily dh saved the day, schwooo!

But here's a quicky post, even if I am running late, ha! This is the first card I made with the Pedaling Past set, it was from the crop last weekend. I was pretty out of it...I first designed the card going horizontally where the blue scallops were at the bottom...then I noticed it was opening from the wrong direction! lol! That's the good thing about making cards, you can always find a creative way to save them!

Hope you have a great day! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Scrapbook Thursday!

Happy Thursday! It's almost Friday, telling myself I can make it, yes, I can, yes, I can...

A few weeks ago I shared my Stampin' Success samples made with some of the new Stampin' Up! colors, but I hadn't shared my cutest sample yet...a 6x6 scrapbook page of darling Maya! She's the daughter of my dear friend, Asha, isn't she the cutest thing? They are amazing photographers too, and she was so nice to let me use some of her photos. This page didn't appear in the Stampin' Success (the colors didn't match the other projects exactly), but it was with the online extras. I used the new color Daffodil Delight, isn't it so cheery?! I can't wait to get my hands on all of those new colors!!

I survived the field trip the other day, the kids were just so good and cute. Their little heads were just turning and spinning and staring at everything, from the bus ride to Frisco and all during the game, so cute! One little pre-K student (there were 5 kids from each grade, pre-K through 2nd) had a little meltdown and wanted to go home, but she came around after an hour or so of crying, yikes!

Okay, off to school! Hope you have a great Thursday! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Pedaling Past...tricycle thanks

Happy Tuesday! It is happy indeed, as I'm going on a field trip to a Rough Riders baseball game with the top 20 Star Students of the school! What a day, spending it with the top 20 students! Sweet relief! hee! hee!

Here's another card I made at the crop with the new SU Pedaling Past set. Don't you love the little tricycle?! This was my last card of the night, and I did the bottom part with the tricycle first, then was a little stumped on how to finish it. This was the best I could do at 11:00 pm, I was shutting down you know, not used to the late hours during the school year! ha!

Hope you have a great Tuesday! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Recipe
Stamps: Pedaling Past, Picture This (thanks).
Cardstock: Kraft

Pedaling Past...together

Happy Monday! Hope you enjoyed your weekend and your Mother's Day! My Sunday didn't go according to plan...The Amazing Race was great, although I was so SAD the cowboys didn't win...but then I didn't have my schoolwork done, so no Tudors until tonight. I told myself I was just going to throw some plans together and not worry about it, but then I can never do that, ugh, and didn't get finished until 12:30! Yikes! Wish me...and the kids...LUCK today! lol!

Here is my favorite card...of the astonishing four...that I made during the crop Saturday night. Don't ask me how I only got four cards done between 6:30 and 11:30! lol! I used the new Stampin' Up! Summer Mini catalog sets Pedaling Past and In a Word (together). I wasn't sure I really needed that bicycle set, but it was so cute, I'm glad I gave in and got it!

Okay, better get moving...venti coffee, here I come! Hope you have a great Monday! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! I hope all the mothers out there are enjoying their special day!

I decided to play for a few minutes with Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 29 even though I should be working on school stuff! Aren't these colors fun and different?! Bordering Blue is one of my favorite colors for scrapbooking, it goes with pictures with blue jeans so well, and most of my pictures seem to involve blue jeans! lol! I better stock up on it before it's gone since it's one of the retiring Stampin' Up! colors.

Okay, on to lesson plans and grading papers. I can't put it off until tonight since it's the Amazing Race finale episode, and I have the Tudors at 8:00, what a full night! ha! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Recipe
Cardstock: Bordering Blue, Cosmo Cricket Material Girl paper.
Accessories: May Arts ribbon, Foof-a-La button, Thickers chipboard letters, SU Linen Thread, Janome Sew Mini.

Laura's Sketch #51: Way 2 Go!

Happy Saturday! I'm off to a lazy start today, aye yi yi! I am going to a crop tonight, yay! I am looking forward to some paper crafting time with my girlfriends!

I finally got a chance to play along with another 2S4Y, Laura's Sketch #51, I just flipped it around a bit. This one is pretty simple, used my new SU hostess set Picture This, that was in the last Occasions Mini Catalog. I got it the last day of April, better late than never, I guess! Last month I also ordered some wool and the scallop and ric rac dies from Paper Trey, so the brown wool part was the strip left over after I ran some of it through the die. See, save those scraps, girls, you never know when they may come in handy! lol!

Here are a few of my favorites from school this week:

When students were getting the answers correct, we were giving them "snaps". We forgot with one student, so a little girl yelled out, "Let's give her slaps!" I was laughing hard at that one! She was snapping her fingers, so she didn't really mean to give her slaps!

Yesterday at lunch, Jackson hurried over to my table and asked, "Do dogs have birthdays?" He was so serious! I said, "Well, yes, your birthday celebrates the day you were born, and dogs are born too." He yells across the table, "See, I told you so, Daniel!" lol! It happened to be Daniel's birthday yesterday, so I guess that's where that came from. You never know what they'll surprise you with!

Hope you are having a great weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Mystery Image Swap

Happy Thursday! Long time, no post, thanks so much for your patience while I've been gone!

And thanks especially to Toni, a member of my stamping group, who has been waiting patiently for weeks for me to make and send her this mystery image swap card! We were mailed a mystery image and we had to make a card with it and send it to a partner. I didn't know it was an image to color, y'all know I'm not good at coloring, so this was the best I could do! ha! Plus, I haven't "produced" anything for weeks, so I was seriously rusty! Hopefully I'll get my stamping legs again soon...I got a new *little* Stampin' Up! order today, so that should help!

Thank you so much for all of the nice comments and emails I received recently with my grandpa passing. The whole thing happened so quickly, he was diagnosed with terminal cancer just a few weeks ago and then he was gone, it was a bit of a shock. He was 89, but he was still wiring houses just last fall! He was in terrible pain and agony at the end, so we are thankful that he didn't suffer for long, and we know he's with the Lord now and we'll see him again one day.

I'm still catching up with all my blog hopping, but I promise I'll be by to see you soon! This weekend is looking good! *wink* Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!
