SCS Clean & Simple #21

Happy Tuesday! Here's a couple of cards I'm not crazy about! lol! I was trying to stamp last night with the Splitcoast Clean & Simple #21 Challenge...to use glitter, Stickles, Iridescent Ice, etc...on your card. I couldn't quite get things to turn out like I wanted, and I think it's because I didn't have my daily nap! In fact, I didn't have a nap on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday! I know...how am I surviving! hee! hee!

Hope you have a great day!
(Seriously, I just typed "Hope you have a great nap!" and had to fix it!)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

i *found* u

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a good weekend! One week of summer school left (thank goodness, because it's getting harder and harder to get up at 5:30 every morning!), then we'll be off to Missouri to see our family on vacation! Yippee!

Here's the third and last card that I submitted to Paper Crafts for the January issue that didn't get picked up. It was based on a sketch and had a Valentine's Day theme. I can't tell you how hard it was to cut into that super fab American Crafts paper! lol!

By the way, congratulations to the Top 5 who made it on to the next round at the 2s4Y Ultimate Showdown! Thanks to everyone for your super nice comments and support during the contest, it was a LOT of fun, and I was seriously honored to make it to the top 10! Now I can't wait to see their final creations and see who wins!!

Hope you have a great Monday! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

2 Sketches 4 You Ultimate Showdown Top 10

Happy Saturday! I was so excited (and stunned!) to make it to the 2S4Y Ultimate Showdown Top 10! Thanks to Laura and Kazan and all the fabby judges for the opportunity, and a big whoot! whoot! to the other top 10 finalists! I feel very honored to be among such a fantastic group!

I had this idea for the card right when I saw the sketch, but I just couldn't decide what paper or what look I wanted the card to have. So I finally dug deep into my stash looking for inspiration last night and found this yummy, whimsical unicorn paper, so finally an idea was born, schwooo!

This card would be handy for holding a gift card, but it's also the kind where you'll want to be present when the person opens it...so they can figure it out! lol! First, untie the bow (not practical, I know!), and here's how it goes from there:

Okay, chicas, I'm off to an all day crop, yipppee! Hope you have a great Saturday! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Circle Circus

Happy Thursday! Hope you're having a great week! Here's a little card I made the other night, between games of Sudoku! I *think* I'm coming off of the compulsion to do them, as yesterday I only did 1-2 puzzles at a sitting, whereas earlier I was doing 2-3 hours at a sitting! lol!

I used the new SU Circle Circus set. It's such a fun set and requires you to kind of think outside the box. I also used the new colors Soft Suede and Rich Razzleberry and the new Tall Tales paper.

Gotta run! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Recipe
Stamps: Circle Cirus, Teeny Tiny Wishes.
Cardstock: So Saffron, Soft Suede, Rich Razzleberry, Tall Tales DSP.

Happy Wednesday! I have some beautiful RAKs to share, lucky me! hee!

This first one is from Ann over at Creative Antics, aren't those monkeys adorable?! It's such a happy card, you can't keep from smiling when you look at it! Thanks, Ann!

The second one isn't exactly a RAK, it's the invitation to the dinner at SU Convention with Shelli and Brent for winning the Artisan Award. It's so pretty, I just had to share it!

Okay, ta-ta for now!! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Kristina Color Inspiration #55

Happy Monday! Here's a little card for
Kristina's Color Inspiration #55. This was a tough one! I made the card below first, but I wasn't totally thrilled, so I tried again and liked the one above better! lol! I used American Crafts stamps and a lot of Basic Gray for this one.

This one below I tried to stick truer to the inspiration piece, by using mostly cream and rust (Dusty Durango here), with some gray and just a tad of mustard. It seemed a little blah, so I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the flowers, but I think I added too much?

That's it for now, chicas! Have a great Monday! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day! Here's an assortment of cards I made for the "fathers" in my life...

For my father-in-law...a 5 x 7 card (to better hold a gift card in an inside pocket). I used a stamp by Sande Krieger for Autumn Leaves, some old Daisy D paper from my stash, and the blue polka dot from Little Yellow Bicycle.

For my dad, who is a camper, another 5 x 7 card. More polka dot paper and the adorable camper stamp from Unity.

For my dear, sweet neighbor Mr. Lewis, more Daisy D airplane paper because he flew in the Air Force in World War II. I had the idea to make the letters with my Cuttlebug and Red Tag Sale Alphabet die in the polka dot paper, but they are seriously hard to read! lol! Live and learn! This card is 6 1/2 x 3 1/4...yes, SU has envelopes that fit this cute size!

Lastly, for my grandpa, who loves westerns, a regular 4.25 x 5.5 card. I used the Cuttlebug and the Houndstooth Embossing folder and the horse stamp from the SU Wanted set.

The "Happy Father's Day" stamp used on the last three cards is from the new Stampin' Up! set Teeny Tiny Wishes. You are really going to love that set, it has 24 great little sentiments for all occasions! If you have questions about anything else, just let me know!

Hope you have a wonderful Father's Day celebrating with the men in your life! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

I added the 365 Cards: Day 112 Everlasting Love challenge today to use "love" in the sentiment. Two for the price of one!

Hope you're having a great weekend! I'm *thinking* about cooking something for dinner now...we'll see! hee! hee!

Cardstock: Basic Kraft, Whisper White, Sweet Slumber DSP, My Mind's Eye black polka dot.

#1 Friend

Happy Friday! Whoo! Hoo! I've really loved teaching summer school, but I think I'm ready for it to be over! lol! Two more weeks, though, and then precious June will be over, sigh.

I didn't stamp yesterday, shocking! The other night (during the hot flash episode!), I picked up my Sudoku puzzle book and now I can't stop doing them! It's my obsessive-compulsive disorder! lol! I did find this card to share, however. It's another one I had submitted to Paper Crafts a few weeks ago that didn't get picked up. Guess I'll have to be happy with my lonely one card that was published back in January! lol! Or keep trying, I guess! ha! Anywho, it was based on a sketch, and I used my Kraft cardstock and lots of Sassafrass Lass goodies! Yummm!

Hope you have a super Friday! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Cardstock: Kraft, Sassafrass Lass patterned paper.

Razzle Dazzle: Splitcoast CC#223

Happy Thursday! It's getting close to Friday! Whoo! Hoo!

I loved Carolina's card for the Splitcoast CC#123...Baja Breeze, Ruby Red, and Whisper White...so I thought I would give it a try last night. Didn't quite turn out like I planned, but I was having killer hot flashes (ugh!) and had to get out of the stamp room with the all the hot lamps! lol! So this is how all the parts got slapped down! I've been seeing Jen scrunch and staple ribbon (plus some other fabby artists too, but drawing a blank right now!), so I copied! I did emboss the Razzle Dazzle flower, but it's kind of hard to see.

Okay, ta-ta for now! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Moxie Fab World: The Value in Vintage

Happy Wednesday chicas! Thought I'd share a quick card I entered into the Value in Vintage challenge over at the Moxie Fab World blog. There are some beautiful card, go check them out here.

I did cheat a bit, I had already made the card for a Paper Crafts call for Vintage Valentine cards, but it didn't get picked up. Thought I might as well enter it in the Value of Vintage challenge, since I did use such yummy vintage goodies on it! I bought the little clock manipulative at an antique store in Waxahachie, along with some other fabby vintage flash cards. I think they were over-priced, but how could a school teacher who loves vintage ephemera resist?! Come on! The button is also vintage and the little chalkboard sticker is from Crafty Secrets.

Okay, gotta get ready for school. Yesterday we had an incident with one little boy who arrived at school in...let's just say...not the best of moods. He was okay the first hour until we went for our restroom break, when he decided to put a pencil in the sink and proceed to overflow it with sudsy water. Here's my favorite part, though...

Me: "Why did you put a pencil in the sink?"

Him: "For no good reason."

Hmmm, you think he's heard or said that before?! It took all my strength not to laugh.

Have a super day! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Recipe
Stamps: All Holidays.
Cardstock: Basic Black, Kraft.
Ink: Staz-On Black.
Accessories: SU chipboard heart, linen thread, Crafty Secrets die-cut sticker, vintage button, vintage school clock manipulative, ribbon unknown.

I was so happy to learn Sunday that my Home of the Brave card made the Top 20 for the 2 Sketches 4 You Ultimate Showdown! What an honor to be included among these amazing artists! I have really enjoyed playing along, so thank you for the wonderful opportunity!

Now, for this week's sketch, I decided not to be a Last Minute Lucy again! lol! I got right to work on Sunday, trying out my new Hambly woodgrain rub-ons that Cath from Moxie Fab World had sent me. They are soooo yummy! Added a little Sassafrass, ribbon, glitter, Thickers, and voila!

Okay, off to another day of summer school! Thanks so much for stopping by and for all of your sweet comments and support! Hugs and happy stamping!

Raspberry Suite Challenge #9: to wonderful you

Happy Monday! Did you have a good weekend? I don't know how they go so fast!
Here's a card I made for Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #9. I really loved these colors! I love that PTI Grass Green color, but I don't have it, so I used Kiwi Kiss. I've had some good times with Kiwi Kiss, can't believe it will be retiring soon. And yes, I used that black and cream polka dot paper from My Mind's Eye that I'm addicted to. What am I going to do when it's gone?! lol!

Hope you have a great Monday! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Kristina's Color Inspiration #54: Animal Stories

Happy Sunday! Hope everyone has had a good weekend! I played in the stamp room a lot, bad me! But I have an excuse, the washing machine is broken and thank goodness the part came in and the repairman will be here tomorrow afternoon! Let's just say, we're down to using beach towels after our shower! lol!

Kristina's Color Inspiration #54 snuck up on me this week, but I got a chance to play along last night. I used my new Animal Stories set, getting inspiration from this post by Tina over at travelingmama. Thanks, Tina! I really loved this poster by Land of Nod. Animals and alphabet letters seem to be all the rage lately, I even bought these by K & Company for 40% off for like $6 and laminated them to use in my classroom next year. Look how cute they are here in this nursery!

Sorry, I got off on a tangent there! The card didn't turn out exactly like I had envisioned, but it's okay. I think I should have used Cool Caribbean instead of Soft Sky, but I didn't think it so much that I redid the card! ha! ha!

Okay, gotta get some things ready for school tomorrow, enough playing! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Recipe
Stamps: Animal Stories.
Cardstock: Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie, Green Galore, Soft Sky, Whisper White.
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie, Green Galore, Soft Sky.

Home of the Brave

This card should have been titled "Under Pressure!" I was stunned last week when I saw that this card was chosen for the top 30 in the 2S4Y Ultimate Showdown! I mean really, the MOST talented papercrafters on the planet participate in the 2S4Y challenges, so I had barely skimmed the details on how the contest worked, doh! Then I learn the top 30 have to (I should probably say "get to"!) make another card using a special sketch to be narrowed down to the top 20. Yikes! See what I mean, pressure?! And I'm a major Last Minute Lucy!

Anyway, I loved the sketch, but could think of nothing to do all week. Usually if I think about the sketch as I go to sleep, I'll get a great idea. Not this week! lol! Luckily, my new Scarlet Lime kit came yesterday and it had that adorable blue and cream polka dot paper in it, and it was an "Aha! a 4th of July card!" moment. I dug through some other kits and found the Jenni Bowlin Soda Water paper and "Home" Bingo card, and then it just kind of fell together. Schwooo!

Anywhooo, a big thank you to Laura and Kazan and the past and present design team for such a great opportunity. I've been playing with 2S4Y from their very beginning, they really are the most fantastic sketches and artwork on the web, so whenever you need inspiration or challenges, go check them out!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Admit It: A Six Card Showcase!

Happy Friday! Here is my Wednesday night challenge to myself! See the card above? Well, kellestamps from Splitcoast asked me to make an index card for the Admit It gallery, because apparently I was the only one who had uploaded a card using this new set! Imagine! So anyway, I made the above card for the index print and then decided my challenge would be to take the stamped images off the card and use them to make six new cards! Well, I almost made it...I got five done that night, but I just now finished the sixth card, so here they are! Enjoy the new level two hostess set, Admit It!

The frst one, I used the card base from the index print card above, featuring Soft Suede, new Tall Tales dsp, and the "Owlways" stamp:

Number two, using the "Tru frnd" stamp, Soft Suede and Lovely Flowers hostess dsp:

Number three, using the "HB2U"stamp with old reliable Kraft cardstock and a hint of Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay:

Number four, using the "XOXOXO" stamp, more Kraft, Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay. The parts were all scraps laying on my table!

Number five, using the "Sweet BB" stamp and Crushed Curry:

Number six, using the "Admit It" stamp with Dusty Durango and Razzleberry Lemonade dsp:

And that's that! Maybe some others will join in and show the new Admit It set some love! lol! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Birthday Wishes

Happy Thursday night! Here's a quick card I made for a teacher friend's birthday on Tuesday!

I used the new Melon Mambo and new Tall Tales designer series paper. Very quick and easy!

I have lots more to share from a special project I worked on last night, but the weather didn't cooperate for me to get photos today. Plus, the same flu symptoms I had over Memorial Day weekend have reappeared, so I've been in bed since noon and off to the doctor (again! ugh!) tomorrow. These children are going to be the death of me! lol!

Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Circle Circus: thank you

Happy Tuesday! Hope your week is off to a great start!

Here's the second card I made Sunday, after Lori left, for a guy friend who helped me out recently. I ordered this new Circle Circus set kind of impulsively (who me? impulsive?! no!), and I wasn't sure how to use it, so I just started stamping the circles in all different colors and punching them out and then playing with them. Easy peasy!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Recipe
Stamps: Circle Circus, All Holidays.
Cardstock: Soft Suede, Crushed Curry, Whisper White.
Ink: Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay, Chocolate Chip.
Accessories: 1", 3/4", and 1/2" Circle Punch, Dimensionals, Janome Sew Mini, white thread.

Animal Stories

I'm back! Here's the one little card I got made while Lori was here stamping yesterday! And I went back later and added the "happy" border across the bottom, lol! At first, it was the kind of card where the front is shorter than the back, but it was still kind of plain and I hadn't been able to work a sentiment in, and it was really bugging me. So later I was working with the "Happy Father's Day" stamp from the All Holidays set and that's when I decided this card needed a little "happy" across the bottom. Here's the inside view:

Nap done, check! Washing machine repairman came, check! Waiting 3-5 days on washing machine part, drats! Free evening to stamp, yay! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Recipe
Stamps: Animal Stories, All Holidays, Circle Circus.
Cardstock: Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Soft Suede.
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede.
Accessories: Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon, Scallop Edge Punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, 1/4" Circle Punch, Big Shot, Pennant Bigz XL die, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals.

Guest Stamper: Lori Franklin!

Happy Monday! My bff and downline Lori came over yesterday to play with my new SU goodies (she doesn't believe in expediting, lol!) so I snapped a few pictures of her cards before she left and thought I would share them with you! She made four fabulous cards, compared to my measly one card, which even got changed after she left, ugh! I did get one more made before bed, so I'll be back to share those later...after a short nap! hee! hee! My body is adjusting to summer school, you know! lol! So sit back and enjoy Lori's awesome cards using lots of new SU goodies!

Wasn't that a treat?!! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!
