Raspberry Suite Challenge #2

Happy Tuesday! I have to say thank you for all of your sweet comments on yesterday's cards. I was getting so frustrated Sunday night while stamping. Do you ever get that, where you are so sick of your own cards, they all look the same, etc.?! That's how I was feeling then, so thank you! I told dh this morning, maybe it's time I pick up a book and read again for awhile! lol!

Well, I have two more cards to share again today...cards I started for Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #2. I am so excited she's doing these, I love color challenges! I started out wanting to use that precious letter ribbon that I bought a long time ago here (and I'm going back this Saturday for a baby cropping shower, oh so dangerous!). I gave up on it and moved to the bunny card (which was made right before yesterday's card and is very similar to it!).

I went back to the letter ribbon last night and tried again. This card is special for me because it was made for an actual *real* occasion! lol! My dearest teacher friend is having a little boy mid-May so this is for her. On both of these cards I used more paper from that Colorbok Friendly Forest mat stack from Michael's. I thought it was adorable and could be used for cards or for school projects for the kids. Very fun stuff!

Okay, sorry so long-winded today! Thanks again for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Kristina Color Inspiration #47

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a good weekend! How do they always go by so fast and I get so little done! ugh!

I played around with Kristina's Color Inspiration #47 last night. Any kind of orange is always a challenge for me, so it's good for me to try (this is what I tell myself anyway!). I made the card below first, but thought maybe it was too plain, so I made the second card above. Nothing too original, you can't seem to go wrong if you fall back on the bow with a button! lol!

Off to work now...four weeks to get the 3rd and 4th graders ready for the math TAKS, the 4th graders ready for the reading TAKS, and the 3rd graders who failed the first reading TAKS ready for the retake. It's going to be a crazy few weeks!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Unity Stamps Inspirational Blog Hop!

Happy Saturday!
I joined in on the Unity Stamps Blog Hop, yay! Since I've been getting the kit of the month for the last seven months, I decided maybe it was time to use them! For these two cards, I used the August 2008 Kit of the Month.

Laura's Sketch #22 & Raspberry Suite Challenge #1

Happy Wednesday! Oh my, the first week back from Spring Break is hard! lol! I did squeeze some stamping time in Tuesday night, so that made it a little better, although I should have been working on other stuff probably, oh well!

I wanted to tackle the fabulous Dawn McVey's new Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #1 and to tackle to "two challenges with one card," I used Laura's Sketch #22 for the design. I always love Dawn's use of bright, vibrant colors, but it truly is a challenge for me! I agonized over this for SOME time! lol! I was also trying to *junk* it up more...you know, add more stuff! lol!

I started with the flowers in the background by stamping them with Pixie Pink craft ink (I thought the cardstock was Pixie Pink, but realized later it was Pink Passion, oops!), and embossing with clear embossing powder. The *hi* part started out with a pink glittery chipboard bird, but he just wasn't working for me. It seemed to be crying out for Thickers, so I broke into my precious stash! ha! The little chipboard tag was made with the Big Shot and Lots of Tag Sizzlits set (very versatile!) and some Always Apricot Patterns DSP. The *huge* orange stripe ribbon is by Li'l Davis Designs that I bought at Tuesday Morning years ago. I think that covers most of the deets, let me know if you have any questions though!

Thanks so much for stopping by! You don't know how much your sweet comments cheer me up on rough days when I check on my iPhone between classes! =) Hugs and happy stamping!

Recipe
Stamps: Good Friend

FS111: Polka Dot Punches

Hi-ho! Hi-ho! It's off to work I go...Yes, spring break is over, sigh. It was good while it lasted! Hee! Hee! I worked on school stuff all day Sunday, but when I saw the Featured Stamper 111 over at Splitcoast was Beate, the queen of all things stamping, I had to play!

I chose this card of Beate's from April 23, 2006. I thought it would be fun to go back a little bit in time! I changed the colors and stamps and a few other things. I used the Scor-Pal to make the diagonal lines on the top part of the card, and I ended up using the back side because I liked it better. She did a very cool reverse masking technique for her flower part, but I was way too lazy for that, so I used the Big Shot and Lots of Tags Sizzlits set and then the Polka Dot Punches flower with the 5-Petal Flower Punch.

One tip, I wanted to lift the whole piece up on Dimensionals, but sometimes one layer of cardstock is kind of *thin* and doesn't seem sturdy and strong enough (this one was especially after all that scoring). For those times, I adhere a leftover piece of chipboard to the back of the cardstock, cut just a little bit smaller. It really gives it a good, sturdy feel and look. Hope that description was understandable!

Okay, off to get ready for school! Hope you have a great Monday! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Stamps: Polka Dot Punches.
Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Sahara Sand, Delicate Dots DSP.
Ink: Sahara Sand.

Happy Birthday, Jackson!

Happy Sunday! And happy birthday to our nephew, Jackson! He's just about the coolest, smartest, nicest, most talented kid I've ever met!

You might think recognize some of the *parts* of this card from this post the other day. I finally found a way to make them work...with the addition of the fabulous corduroy button!

Okay, gotta dash, dinner is almost done. Yes, I've been cooking every night, dh is beside himself! The Flat Belly Diet is going well, I've lost 5 pounds, and it would have been more except for the margaritas! lol! But even then, I only had like a tablespoon of queso and a couple of chips (unheard of for me, I used to live for the queso!), then I shared the heart healthy grilled vegetable platter with Michelva. It sounds crazy, but for the first time ever, I don't feel like I'm controlled by food. Hopefully it will continue! hee! hee!

Have a great night! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Kristina Color Inspiration #46: U ROCK

Happy Saturday people! Hope your weekend is going well! We're having some beautiful weather here in Dallas, so I think I'm going to take the Nickster for a walk around the neighborhood, but I realized I better post this card for Kristina's Color Inspiration #46 before the deadline!

I really loved these colors and worked on this card Friday night, but
I could never get it exactly like I saw it in my head (maybe because of the two margaritas I'd had!), so I finally gave up and moved on...to the couch! (My friends pooped out on the movies Friday night, so I had to come home and stamp! lol!) Anyway, I had some scraps of that "letter" paper leftover from this card laying on my desk, so that's where I started. I do love Kristina's challenges for making me mix colors that I would never think of on my own.

Before I go, look at the good mail day I had! Thanks to Ann over at Creative Antics for the fabulous blog candy ribbon! These colors are so fab, I love them! You're the best, Ann!

Here's to a great Saturday evening! My teacher friends and I also pooped out on our movie plans tonight...I think the impending end of spring break is weighing heavily upon us! lol! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Forest Friends Bambi

Happy Friday! I can't believe how fast this Spring Break week has flown by! I'm off to meet some friends here in a few minutes, but wanted to share this quickly before I go. Finally this morning I felt some creativity creeping back. (Maybe because I turned the tv off, doh!) This card is for a sketch challenge I signed up for with my Sensational Swappers group. The actual sketch is based on the fabulous Lauren Meader's Saturday Sketch #19. I used the new Spring Mini Walk in the Park papers and the Forest Friends deer. Don't you just love this little guy:

The piece he's attached to is from the new Matchbox Bigz die made with the Big Shot. I made one from some plain chipboard and adhered the designer paper to it for a little extra strength. That bunched up ribbon was so thick, I had to use double glue dots to attach the deer piece. He's way up there! lol!

Hope you all have a great weekend! I think we're going to the movies tonight and I'm going tomorrow night with some teacher friends, so I'll have some movie reviews for you soon! ha! ha! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

An Egg-cellent Easter

Happy Wednesday! Hope you're having a great week! I've been really lazy about starting any challenges, but as I glanced over at the April 2009 Creating Keepsakes on my desk, I decided to copy its fresh, spring colors onto a card! I ended up liking the So Saffron the best, so it kind of over-powered the other colors, oh well!

So here's how I've been enjoying my spring break:

I started the Flat Belly Diet on Monday. My friends at work have been having success, so I borrowed their book and went grocery shopping on Sunday. There's a special eating regimen for the first 4-days...which involves no caffeine...which is why I waited to start it when I was safely away from the children!

My friends know I'm a VERY picky eater, so this has been quite an adventure for me! I'm sure they can't believe there's a package of MUSHROOMS in my cart! And yes, I sauteed them and ate them over brown rice. I even ate some (some meaning 8!) cherry tomatoes, but there's no way I could eat the whole pint like it said, so hubby was happy to get those. That's not all...I've steamed carrots, roasted red potatoes, and baked talipia (fish, I know!) too! I've obviously been googling lots of cooking instructions this week! lol! I have to admit, most of it has tasted pretty good. But my theory is, you're so da*n thankful when you get to eat on this diet, you don't care what it is, it tastes great!

Anyway, once the initial 4 days are over, you go on a more regular eating routine, a healthy one, with four meals a day. Part of the deal is eating a mufa, a monounsaturated fatty acid, with every meal. Has anyone else tried this? I have to admit, the healthy food really does taste pretty good and I feel pretty good. I've been walking with Nick every day too, it's funny because he is SO exhausted the rest of the day! Wish me luck, and share your stories if you have some! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Hope everyone is having a good week! I've been enjoying my spring break and feeling quite lazy! Even worse, I haven't felt creative at all, dad blast it! (Does anyone else use that expression? Maybe it's just my version, I'm not sure what "dad" has to do with blasting it!)

Anywhooo, I finally managed to get a card out of me today, schwooo! I used Garden Green, which hasn't happened in awhile, and a rub-on from the retired hostess Seasonal Sayings Rub-Ons. I also used the polka dot texturz plate with my Big Shot on the white part, but unfortunately, it doesn't show up very well in the photo. Speaking of the photo, I actually got a photo in natural daylight! Yippeeee!

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, I thought I'd share a little video celebrating their music. I love Irish music, maybe it's my heritage (I have no idea, lol!), but I thought you might like this one!

Kristina's Color Inspiration #45: Birthday Wishes

Happy Saturday! Yay for Spring Break! I'm off to a very LAZY start! I have to leave and get a much needed haircut at 5:00, but I wanted to share a card for Kristina's Color Inspiration #45 before I go! It's a little on the plain side, I'm still searching for my creativity! lol! It's for my nephew's birthday coming up next week, and below are some of the rejected parts I started earlier!

Okay, ta-ta for now! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Clean & Simple FTL #32: Be Hoppy

Happy Wednesday! 3 Days to Go! Whoo! Hooo!

Here's a quicky...no time to stamp last night...but woke up this morning at 4:30 and couldn't fall back asleep, so whipped this one up quickly. I used the Clean and Simple FTL #32 Sketch. (That stands for "fall to layout"...I had to look it up too, hee! hee!

I used some Sassafrass Lass...yup, actually cut into some paper! Even used some precious pink Thickers! The "hoppy" is that Big Shot Billboard strip die...it's turning into a "fall to" item for me too!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Moxie Fab World: For the Birds & some thank yous!

Happy Tuesday! Four days to go! (And yes, I'm going to be annoying like this all week!) I finally got around to making a card for the Moxie Fab World For the Birds challenge last night. You had to use a bird on the card and a *place* the bird would be...like in a cage, tree, etc, and I had trouble coming up with something. This slowly came to me while watching Chuck, Heroes, and Medium...yes, it was a slow process! Here's the inside:

Now, speaking of Moxie Fab World...I was lucky enough to be one of the winners with this card for their last gray and yellow challenge, and look at the awesome prize box I got in the mail last Friday!!! I was ecstatic! Yes, mam, those are Thickers you see, 3 packs!!
Then, getting this package and finishing up on the cleaning/reorganizing of my stamp room, made me realize I had never photographed and shared the fabulous loot that Sankari sent me as the lucky draw winner of one of their Cinema Saturday challenges! I was stunned when this arrived one day with an apology for being late, because Brooke had already sent me a fabulous prize package! They co-host the blog and challenges, and I never dreamed they would both send prizes! I feel almost guilty, but thank you so much Sankari! If you guys haven't particpated in the Cinema Saturday challenges, head on over there...the prizes are great! lol!

Okay, that's it for now! Get out there and stamp and go for some good prizes! hee! hee! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Kazan's Sketch: Great Friends

Happy Monday! (I can only choke that out because it's 5 days and counting until Spring Break!) I hope everyone had a great weekend! I got a lot done around the house and caught up with two friends who came over Sunday for belated Stamp Club. I always feel better when they come over, thanks, girls!

After my Forest Friends trio from Saturday, this is the only other thing I made. I used a sketch Kazan posted early over at 2 Sketches 4 You. I only glanced at it and then tried to do it from memory, and after looking at it again now, I don't think I got it quite right. I'm not too sure if I like my card...that bottom piece reminds me of having your pants pulled up too high over your waist, like Erkel!

Anywhooo, I used another new Occasions Mini set called Great Friend, as well as some new paper called Walk in the Park and a new Big Shot die called Matchbox Bigz. I'm looking forward to playing with these goodies some more this week!

Okay, that's a ta-ta for now! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Forest Friends Trio

Happy Saturday! I don't think I've done a *trio* back since last summer vacation, so I thought I'd give it a go today with the new Forest Friends set. They are just the cutest little creatures! The set includes the tree, owl, deer, and bunny.

This first one below is very simple, I stamped the bunny with Versamark and heat embossed with Winter White Embossing Powder. I also used the new white satin ribbon from the Occasions Mini Catalog, and it is YUMMY! I almost didn't order it, but am so glad I did! Lastly, I am in love with that big chocolate chip button! It's from the neutral designer button collection in the main catalog. It is the best button ever!

This next one below, I used the deer stamp with Staz-On Brown ink and stamped off for the two lighter deers on the side. The "a little something" is from Matchbox Messages, a new set in the Occasions Mini Catalog, along with a white jumbo grommet too. Isn't that grommet cool?! It has little prongs that you poke through the cardstock and fold over, but here I just folded the prongs over and put the ribbon through it.

This last one below, I used the owl and tree stamp. I stamped the tree in Kiwi Kiss ink, then used a blender pen to take the ink off of the trunk and branches, then colored them in with a Chocolate Chip marker. I wish we could just have markers with the In Colors! The finished size of this card is 3 1/4" x 6 1/2".

Hope your weekend is going well! I'm afraid I haven't accomplished much...except for these cards and a long nap! hee! hee! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Mojo Monday #76: An Egg-cellent Easter

Happy Friday! Yay! Found time last night to make a card combining the Mojo Monday #76 sketch challenge and the Kristina Color Inspiration #44 challenge! You know what they say...work smarter, not harder! I've never been very good at that actually...

I used the uber-cute An Egg-cellent Easter set from the upcoming SU Occasions Mini Catalog. You might remember from this post that it's available to everyone right now! I loved it the minute I saw it, and I'm not one who usually buys "animals" or artwork that has to be "colored in"...y'alll know I'm lazy!

I applied the bunny girl piece with Dimensionals placed around the edges, leaving the center empty so you could pull the long piece out and use it as a bookmark. That only came to me after I was trying to figure out how to get the ribbon to work with the very cool new grommet (also from the new Occasions Mini Catalog, available April 1, and you can't even see it now behind the ribbon!). I ended up with the little loop accidentally and thought it was cute, so it became a bookmark. The white bunny part might look a little too plain, do you think?

Do you have any exciting plans for the weekend? Do share! Since I was gone last weekend, I'm hanging out and working on the neglected house and dh. Hmmmm, maybe that didn't come out quite right! lol! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Ink: Staz-On Brown.

Sketch This #80: Forest Friends

Happy Thursday! That means it's almost Friday, yay! I didn't take a nap last night, which meant I was tired and couldn't come up with much in the stamping department, but I muddled on through to try and make one card with my new Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog goodies!

I used the Sketch This #80 challenge. I hadn't been there in awhile, and this was a really easy sketch to do! I like their sketches because they have a great design team who shows you scrapbook pages and cards done with the sketch, go check it out!

Anywho, that precious bunny and tree are from the new Forest Friends set and the *hoppy easter* is from An Egg-cellent Easter. The yumm-o paper is the new Walk in the Park collection, and the butterfly was made with the Big Shot and Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die, but I cut it down a little to make it smaller. Last detail, in case you're wondering about the ribbon, it's White Taffeta Ribbon, colored with the Cameo Color marker. (Who knew Cameo Coral would start becoming popular?! I've never used it until lately!) The finished card size is 4 1/4" square. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I was trying to think of some funny school stories, but lately they seem more scary than funny. For example, they pulled a car out of a small lake in a public park a few blocks from the school and are searching for bodies, three cars parked behind the school had their windows broken out last week, a news crew was at some apartments behind the school filming today after lunch (I forgot to watch to see what that was about),...and the kicker...on a practice TAKS passage Monday about fire prevention, no one in my group chose a correct answer choice "call 911" because they said "that doesn't work, you can't get through, so that can't be right."

On a lighter note...did you hear the story about the lady who called 911 from a McDonald's because they were out of chicken nuggets?! Click here for details. Hee! Hee!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Stamps: Forest Friends, An Egg-cellent Easter

Kazan's Sketch #21: Hoppy Easter

Happy Wednesday! I took a 2 1/2 hour nap last night, so then I thought I was invincible or something and stayed up until 1:00! Not good! lol! I think we all survived the TAKS test yesterday, now we'll just have to wait on the results...Have I mentioned there are only 8 more school days until spring break?!!

Okay, sorry for the ramble! Here's the card I made *late* last night, based on Kazan's Sketch #21 over at 2 Sketches 4 You. I knew I wanted to use that precious bunny from Sassafrass Lass, but I couldn't bear to cut into any of the matching 12x12 paper! lol! It's just so precious, I think I have to save it for "whole sheet" scrapbooking. The finished card size is 5 1/4" square. Be sure and head over to 2 Sketches 4 You and play in this week's sketch challenge because the prize is a Scor-It Mini (I would love to have one of those!) AND a set of Teresa Collins die-cut paper!

That's it for now, peeps! Hope your week is going well! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Scrapbooking Tuesday: Free Stamps!

Happy Tuesday! Here's one of the layouts I made at the retreat last weekend using all SU supplies. I just realized I probably should have stamped on it somewhere, though, since it says "Free Stamps"! doh! It's a very simple layout, done Sunday morning when I was determined I was going home with more than six completed layouts! lol!

Since I've been home, I've been on an organizing and cleaning craze in my stamp room. It needed it badly! Maybe tonight I'll have time to sit down and stamp something and enjoy it. My new Spring Occasions Mini Catalog pre-order stuff arrives tomorrow, yay! It's a really good mini and it was very hard showing restraint...

Well, must finish getting ready for school. Today is the TAKS test for many Texas students, so say a little prayer for those little darling! I'll be administering the test to four 3rd graders, wish me luck! lol!

Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!

Clean and Simple #31 Challenge

Happy Sunday! Here's a card I created and photographed at my scrapbooking retreat at the beautiful Lake Whitney! I even went outside to take the pictuure...and I think we all know I'm not an outside girl! lol!

The design is based on the Clean and Simple layout #31. It's a great layout, you should try it! So easy, yet very striking. I used the new SU Good Morning Sunshine DSP and a Loop to Loop rub-on from the Level 3 hostess set bundle.

Okay, off to more scrapbooking. I've completed six pages and two cards...not the most productive weekend (like Beverly's 29 pages so far, ugh!), but I've had a heck of a good time!

Hope you're having a great weekend! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and happy stamping!
